I open a project: "Transients are in the process of being generated"
Just installed X2. When I open a project, I get a message box: **** Sonar X2 Producer Transients are in the process of being generated. Depending upon project settings, playback may be different until the process is complete. **** I press OK , then hit play, but I don't notice anything different in the playback. What is this message telling me? Can I disable it?

It's audio snap generating them. Unless you've done any transient editing though you won't hear any difference. Turning audiosnap off should stop it, failing that bounce the clips, that will.

Hey - just did a Google search on that message, and found Sonar posts from as far back as 2006. Here is what one said (several also indicated audio snap present)- give it a try and let me know what happens: "I get this message whenever I open a project that has an 'audiosnapped' track. To avoid it, disable Audiosnap before saving. I've never had a related fatal error." Bob Bone

Just curious - what is your latency running at? Bob Bone

H'm. Well, first, thanks for the amazing fast responses! But I see that all tracks are set to "Clips". If I understand things correctly, AudioSnap would need at least one to be set to "Audio Transients"

No. Audiosnap can be on on any track. The filter just allows you to see the transients. Use the audiosnap tab in the clip inspector to check whether it is enabled on any tracks and turn it off as well if need be.

Holy cow! "Enable" is checked for every track in every project I am opening! How is this possible? No way have I used AudioSnap on every project! X2 seems to be changing X1 projects in other ways, too. In projects where I have Ozone 4 and 5, it seems to be selecting whichever is second in the FX bin. Unfortunately, X1 is not opening anymore (Splashscreen, then nothing), so I cannot check the projects as they were (yes, they are backed up). Oh, and I notice the message is only showing the first time I open a project (I am closing the projects WITHOUT saving), so maybe it has some thing to do with Picture (waveform)?

That's pretty weird that X1 no longer works. I have both X1 and X2, AND X1 Essentials AND X2 Essentials, AND 8.5.3 on my system, and they all play jacks together in the playground (I have no issues having them all on my system). I took a look and didn't see anywhere to globally set Audiosnap ON, just the standard palette with the little power button that says it will toggle it on or off for the selected clips. I'm out of notions on this one. Bob Bone

I get that message from time to time and not sure why either. I don't have any audio snapped tracks in the tune. Usually it's in a longer tune or one with many tracks. It doesn't seem to cause me any grief however other than delaying opening the file a few seconds.

JazzSinger - could your X2 install be really messed up? It sounds like something bad happened if your X1 got hosed too. Just wondering, did anything demonic happen during your install of X2? Bob Bone
