I don't get the free stuff (strings or rapture sounds) but I get free disks.  price is the same but no extra charge for the media.

    Nope.

    You'll see.

You just get the disc's shrink wrapped with a small printed manual. Don't know if they are still doing the 'Mind Map' or not.

I know you know this already ... but just a friendly reminder ... make an image of your HDD before you install X2.

I ended up formatting and reinstalling from scratch.

Started at 9pm last night ... just finishing up now.

Why didn't you just order it from Cakewalk?
Certainly in the UK it's actually cheaper from a retailer than the Cakewalk store.

Currently £50 cheaper for me coming from 8.5 as you get the £25 worth of DVD's into the bargain.  It's a fair saving.

It sounds crazy but there is some business sense to it as if the Cakewalk store was cheaper nobody would bother distrubuting or stocking it, it gives them a bit of margin to play with and keeps the distrubution channels intact I suppose.

I'm not sure what merit there is to it still though, since most people buy online now anyway but I suppose Sonar gets more coverage that way than it would from just the one outlet.

The gold mini-van parked in front of the empty lot next door is not waiting to ambush the Fedex truck.
    I had this ...

... shipped to where I used to work back in Pennsylvania because the company I bought it from only shipped via FedEx. I figured it would show up during business hours since FedEx knows businesses are normally only open 9 - 5, and thus I'd have some Hank to take home and listen to that weekend.

Come 5:30 on Friday, no FedEx, so I go driving across town looking for his truck and found him, and he gave it to me.

FedEx is another one of those little things in life that I loathe ...

I used to intentionally have things shipped via FedEx Overnight, knowing it would never get there when they promised, but still a hell of a lot faster than their regular ground service. Then I'd call the company I placed my order with and point out that they didn't meet the delivery date I paid extra for, and I'd get my shipping fees back every single time. FedEx is their own worst enemy.

If you're getting the upgrade, why not just download and then burn the files to DVDs (for about 50p)?  But either way - great move!

    Beags
    congrats.
I already have X2 but have not installed it cause of the installation issues with Rapture not installing because the system has Dim Pro on it......it's weird......I have followed the work around thread and although I am not afraid of going into my regestry and doing work (I do it all the time) I just don't feel like hassling with it at the moment.......but I will have to sooner or later....

I did get the string download  but I missed the extra Rapture sounds.
    Where are they?

I'll check out Sweetwater and any others offering X2 deals. One of my  concerns is if my old processor is "worthy" enough to handle X2.......(until I can save up for a new machine).

I suppose the intake is much more than the output?

Either way, I can't imagine it having a good outcome.

OK, Well I have some Rapture expansion packs already...I just did not know if I was a missing one!

But I think you should have taken advantage of that string download for DimPro....they do sound good....I am hoping to mix them in with my GPO to help round out the sound......

but that is just my 2 cents..............Good strings make for good background filler / padding and besides....

ha!  kinda doubt that!  not even beagle elfman!

but as I said above I use kontakt's stings and think I get a decnt sound out of them and dimpro is less convenient, so I doubt I'd use them unless they are just supurb over kontakt strings - which I doubt they are that much better if at all.
