I own Studio One 2: I can buy X1 producer crossgrade right?
My new software arrived today from Sweetwater, but instead of being X1 producer essentials crossgrade, I got the regular crossgrade. I already own Studio One 2 (not the free version), so I can use that right? I was going to give Studio One 2 to my brother, so I could just give him X1 essentials right? By the way: Well done on the most recent updates. It fixed a hell of a lot of personal issues I was having that stopped me going Producer... I can use Razor now! No hanging notes, haha.

I nominate this for the weirdest post in the X1 forum today.

I got a bit lost too. Far too many products mentioned in one post. On a side note, Studio One's transfer policy is highly flawed and open to massive amounts of (amazingly legal) abuse. I won't highlight it here but it's plain daft.

Just to be clear, you are aware that Studio 2 and Cakewalk are from 2 different companies and therfore no you can't use the crossgrade? I didn't know Cakewalk had a crossgrade version, but I'm pretty sure you would have to own a lower version of X1 to use the crossgrade.

Cross grades are an enticement for people who own another software package. It's a means to lure someone away from another brand. There seems to be confusion between upgrade which is moving from an earlier to a newer version of the same software. Eg Sonar 8.5 to Sonar X1 and cross grade which is a move from any other DAW software to Sonar X1.

crossgrade means from a software of one company to the software of anotehr, if I am not trippin. Essentials to producer would be upgrade, not crossgrade. Lance

Is a retrogade then going from (example) SOANR to (snarky example) ProTools?

Good to know, the only crossgrade I have done was for some IK plugs, Amplatube to ARC.
