I still don't get it. " -9dBdFS = 0dB analog"
just had a little discussion.
I told the mixing engeneer to increase the digital level from -10dB to -5dB.
He told me he wouldn't do it cause it would override the mixer.. "-10dB is 0dB analog!"
I told him that I know about that formula, but the level is too low.. we need to increase the level by 5dB, I also told him that we have 10dB of digital headroom and if he thinks that we can't use that headroom !?
again he confronted me with his same answer..
We are using a Yamaha 01V96, a separate digital peakmeter (the red area begins at -9dB (ending at 0dB of course))
the signal is fully digital as far as I know..
after he had to increase the level and I had my "volume", no clippings.. nothing..
so what is the problem about the "-9dBdFS vs. 0dB analog" ?
thx
