I think I'm anal....ytical

I just spent hours and hours looking at guitar amps, guitar amp specs, reading various user comments on just about everything, reading manufacturer descriptions. Looking at used and new amps from everywhere of every size shape and price. I am using a variax and so I have been reading post after post on the DT amps their pros and their cons, how reliable they are. Looking for the least expensive prices...there aren't any.

Read  comparisons at length of different amps and power settings.Specs, weight, you name it. One amp caught my eye but it seems over kill.  Would make a good front end for my HD500 in the effects loop, but it is a monster of a thing to carry. Then I flip flopped back to line 6 DT series.....now my brain is almost fried. I am not much further than when I started.

I spent most of last night looking at guitar videos on youtube and trying to copy those guys. I can do some of it. I think I'm almost jelly, but I want to do it again tonight.

My buds are pulling me away to a race tomorrow. Maybe I'll snap out of it.

    No I'm not Tobias!!!!!

I have learned a few things here. If you are playing with an HD500 you have a couple of choices to keeping the same tones you made at home.
A- You can use the amp designed by Line 6, the HD series.

B- You can play it through another amp using the effects loop only and disengaging the amp simms in the HD 500. This way you get the effect of the tube section in the amp of your choice and the effects of the HD. This choice neuters the HD amps though.

C- You can play it though a full range portable PA. Lots of guitar players are still hung on the tubes but the HD500 is designed to be played through a full range system. Playing it through a regular guitar amp without first making some changes will render the sound sucky.

Since the tube tone and cabs are modeled you can't think like the typical guitar player plugging into a typical amp. Adjusting the tones to sound good through a portable PA system will guarantee that they also sound decent through a larger system if you send to it. You can also have the capability to play in stereo or dual amp setups.

All PAs are a little different, but essentially this will get you most of the way there with only a few EQ adjustments here and there.

If you opt for the HD series amps the amp itself is no longer using the amp simms in the HD either, but the Bogner setup instead.

FWIW maybe someone can use this info.
