No they don't do it intentionally. Since most everything they are taught is inaccurate it stands to reason that eventually the more educated a person is the more likely they will eventually become overconfident idiots.

Humans are a bizarre species. Individually, they may be brilliant, insightful thinkers. Collectively, they're morons. It appears that the overall intelligence of the masses decreases as the population concentration increases. This may explain the reason aliens frequently abduct people from rural areas. The aliens are clearly trying to avoid tainting their sample with the extraordinarily stupid. The fact that humans insist on gathering together in large groups, crowding into packed cities, and piling into small cars demonstrates that humanity values Stupidity much more than Intelligence.
The only other organisms known to exhibit this same behaviour are the Plibdords of Flarg 6, the 4th planet of the Flarg system. Plibdords, as everyone knows, are characterized by their fondness for hitting themselves in the head with rocks, shaving their tongues, and Jerry Lewis.
The fact that humanity has apparently infected the Plibordians with Debilitating Stupidity Syndrome has prompted the interstellar community to ban all contact with humanity unless absolutely necessary, or when watching American Idol.
In other news, sales of tongue razors are increasing throughout the quadrant.

They had to find a solution for the ones that were genetically inferior
and/or with mental disorders.
There solution was to send them to Earth. We are the descendants of
castawayed "challenged" aliens.
Claims of UFOs here on earth...well thats just them dumping another load.
