I woke up laughing....

I know a little about the sub-conscious mind like most lay people do, but how does this work?

I'm dreaming I'm in a small social setting where some general chatter is taking place then some dreary chap starts to dominate the conversation and it starts to get boring.

Enter the good 'Mermaid' who just casually mentions in my ear "He's such a glope!"

So how come in my own dream my partner is able to surprise me with a word that to my knowledge I've never heard before but because of the inference it drew I knew exactly what it meant and how come in my own dream did I have no inkling that such an amusing comment was coming?

I was still laughing when I awoke.

Glope....lol

Are you sure you were asleep and not just in the CH with the Mermaid looking over your shoulder ? ;)

Assuming that you really were dreaming, why would you expect to know that any part of a dream was coming ? The odd recurring one apart, I have never known what I was going to dream in advance.

I have experienced the laughing thing though and also the complete opposite. I also have dreams where within it I realise that it's a dream  - an example that springs to my mind is telling my old boss from many years ago tho get **** out of my dream as he walked into the room that I was in.  When this occurs I then realise that it's just a dream so therefore I can do whatever I like and so I do

A friend who is into the study of such things tells me this is quite rare. I have no idea if this is true or not.

I can see the word Glope is gonna become a CH staple, so I took the liberty of copyrighting it. If you use it in future, then you must pay your dues to Paulo. The Bouy has been Bouyed !!! Ha ha

Having both a decent grasp of the subconcious AND a concious grasp of being decent, I won't bore you with any pontificating regarding your event.

But I do have to ask, were you "staring" in this dream?  LOL!

That's so weird!  I was having a dream that I was talking with a group of people, saying something really Profound, when I heard someone mutter, "He's such a glope!".

Unfortunately, I didn't understand it.  I woke up feeling somewhat insulted, which is a rather common occurance.  I had breakfast in a hotel where people at the next table pointed at me and laughed.  One of them said I was a total glope.  He then flapped a pair of fishsticks, and flew up the chimney.

I'm not sure, but I'm beginning to suspect that I may still be dreaming.

...And I'm growing increasingly convinced that I may have been insulted.  So, I might not be dreaming after all.

    Re:I woke up laughing.... 2012/05/16 11:02:18 (permalink)
    Hi,

I have a lot of neat, funny, weird, far out dreams with musicians that I like and enjoy their work.

Some of it is great fun, and some of it is ... strange, and some of it, I will not classify, but I think it is all a part of the person that it came from, up to and including my own "video camera" inside my head!

But it's tough ... I'm putting all of these together as a book, because typing it here ... almost all of you go ... he's weird ... and the fun .. the excitement ... your inner vision ... takes a dive ... and that is not condusive to helping your inner dream live and experience more of it.

It's like when you are young ... you look left and you see something ... you turn to your friend as you describe it, and they tell you something like, you're stupid ... there's nothing there ... and your "inner" vision gets killed instead of developed! Instead of the clairvoyant you can be (can you imagine that in music?), you become a person that does not trust their inner instincts at all, and is always second guessing the inner flame.

I -- ALWAYS -- do these as a poem ... to try and retain the "visible" side of it, which I have a hard time describing -- not enough details in the dream for example -- and then hope that it comes through. I already KNOW ... that trying to explain/describe something that you see inside ... is not gonna happen.

What the heck do you think that all the "big" names in the arts are all about? Coloring that inner sight.

And there is a massive difference between that inner sight (as you well know) and an idea. An idea keeps changing details to suit the person in charge ... the inner sight is absolute ... there was only one ... and that was that and tomorrow it will not be the same and you have not learned how to "replay" these ... which can be done, btw ... that "secret" is in Carlos Castaneda's The Art of Dreaming ... and the jokes there are funny too!

Now you know where all my "internal" and "art" and "vision" came from. My dreams become poems, and my "visions" become short stories ... which are much easier to describe as they tend to be more detailed!

    Hi,

Several years ago, when I was one of the contributing editors to the "Ygdrasil Journal of Poetic Arts", mostly I did ... specialty issues, incuding one that had livel readings of poetry ... and some with music!

These are all archived in the National Library of Canada, if you ever would like to see them, or read them ... we were the wild-est, free-est form anything poem came and went you ever saw ...

Later on, I did a specialty issue that was called ... "Tensegrity and other Poems" ... and you can rest assured that a lot of the stuff in there ... was nuts ... but man ... it was fun to dig up the experiences and let them out!

One of the folks in the Castaneda camp that thought herself a member of the club ... complete with Mercedes, hairdo, expensive clothes, but missing a cigar up her ... thought that the whole thing was pretentious and a sad attempt at the real thing!  I really thought about getting her a nice steely dan for Christmas ... it might help with all the constipation and idealism, instead of the real experience ... and as it is said ... you have absolutely no criteria whatsoever to verify that what happened inside is not true, and is not a part of you! And that anyone outside you saying anything is any truer than what you see!

You ready for another Bonzo Dog Doo Dah Band ... today's metal and progressive is getting so bad and humorless! And we can't forget that little sign that says ... one of these folks is having a mind bending experience!

Sometimes I wake up laughing. Sometimes I wake up screaming. Curiously, it's the same dream in either case.
