I'll Miss You - Original Vocal
I was in in the middle of two other songs when this song hit me. I had to stop and do this because it wouldn't leave me alone. I wrote if for my wife in the attempt to not leave this world with things unsaid. This is only the second time in which I found one of those songs that wrote itself. It didn't take much longer to compose these words than it did to just write them down. I wish every song lyric came as easy as this one did. This song is all about the lyrics for me and I hope you like the music. Daryl I'll Miss You http://www.soundclick.com/bands/page_songInfo.cfm?bandID=582907&songID=11560000 I'll Miss You When my life is over Before I slip away There’s something I must tell you And this is what I’ll say I will miss those blue skies And the birds up in the air I will miss the sunshine The way it falls upon your hair I’ll miss the sound of thunder And the rain upon the trees I’ll miss the snow in winter And I’ll miss the summer breeze I will miss the springtime And I will miss the fall Life is filled with wonders And I will miss it all Chorus I will miss the mornings and the sunlight on the dew But most of all I’ll miss you I will miss the desert And I will miss the sea I will miss the mountains Where we always liked to be I will miss the music And three part harmony I will miss the laughter And the way you smile at me I will miss the good times We took them with the bad I’ll even miss the hard times When each other’s all we had I will miss the children The ones you gave to me I look into their faces And your eyes are what I see Chorus: I’m not feelin’ sorry And I’m not feelin’ blue Don’t sympathize. Don’t be surprised This day would come we always knew I’ll miss a million things we did And the things we’ll never do I’m just glad I didn’t miss The chance to spend my life with you Chorus:

I told my ex, "I'll miss you." And she said, "awe that's sweet." And I said, but I've been practicing, and my aim is improving... I would lose the thunder and the rain. I like your song, and the mix sounds good on my buds, I'm not sure I can give mix advice on the buds, but if I have any it would deal with the sizzle on that hat when it's open? It seems to stand out. Not sure if that's a freq thing or a volume thing, or just these buds.

This is a very pretty song with gorgeous guitar. I've had a few songs that wrote themselves, and there's nothing quite like it. I like your mix and vocal. This song sounds very heartfelt and warm. Good job.

Hey, Daryl, This is really a fresh sounding very heartfelt song! Great playing and guitar tone as always, nice lyrics and excellent emotional sounding vocals and harmonies. Isn't it great when a song just zaps it's way into your head and won't leave you alone until it's recorded? I always LOVE when that happens! Nice work, my friend! Bob

Robby, my wife likes the thunder and rain.. so it will probably stay. (:D) Thanks. Lynn - Thank you. The words mean a lot to me, I'm glad I got to say them. Eric - Thank you. Having some one like my words means a lot. Bob, Yes it is cool when it all hits you quick. The finger picking work is with my Campellone archtop, the lead is with my Telecaster Thinline 69 re-issue but I swapped out the pickups for Fender American pickups and put some really good tuning gears on it. Fun little guitar.

Sweet song Daryl, you're hitting a consistently fine stride these days. Top notch performances and mix to my ears. No crits on the drums either! Luscious guitar work, as always.

Well, I thought the bass guitar lacked overshadowed in the first part by the piano until about 2:24 into the song when I could tell for sure that there was a bass guitar there in the song to begin with. Bass drum was fine, just to me lacking a little more depth with the low end with the bass guitar. Otherwise sounded fine, well, maybe, the voice just a hair too loud also, but I suppose it all subjective and relative in the end and with different speakers.

If I was a woman (OK, I'm not but what the heck!), I would be reaching for the second box of tissues and wondering how I could find a man who writes from the heart, sings like the Heavenly Choir and plays guitar better than anyone up there at the moment! And then reaching for the third box on realising that your wife has already staked her claim! Darn it! Great song. Love it. Best Wishes Malcolm

WOW, talk about bringing the wife home some musical flowers . all that aside , I have to admit that I'm more than a little concerned , please forgive me in advance for asking you this Daryl ,because I sure hate to bring this up . Please don't tell me that you traded The Wes thumb away to get that wonderful drum track all the best , Kenny

James - You are too kind, thanks for the encouragement. All guitars are lucious that's why we play them, but thank you very much. Spacecalf - I think you're right. I wanted the piano strong but maybe I need to pan it a little more away from the bass. Thanks. Rimshot - Thanks for the nod on the lyrics. Glad you liked it. Thank you. Tony - Thanks man! Malcolmb - That's without a doubt the nicest compliment I have ever had, bar none. I'm glad the words hit their mark. I showed my wife your post and she " Oh he must be a really sweet sensitive guy" and I was like: Hey! I wrote the song and he's the sweet guy? What's up with that!" Kenny - Wow, thank you. I glad you liked the words. I meant evey one of them too. That makes it easier you know. Thanks for the drum encouragement! Thanks for the nod on the previous octive work. Several years ago when I got back into music I made up my mind that I wanted to learn to become fluent with octaves, because I never had been and every guitar player I admired was very good at it. I spent the better part of 3 months playing every melody I could think of and improvising in octaves. I think I drove my wife a little nuts, but in the end I kind of got the hang of it. If I had known it was that easy years ago, I might be pretty good at it by now. Robert - Thanks so much. Loved that Tom Petty number! Daryl

Octave playing is still an area of guitar playing where I still feel a little weak around the edges. all the best , Kenny

Tim - Thank you. I would still love your opinon on the music, because I know you will be honest, and I respect your opinion, and I feel I always learn from it. Kenny - Yea, I just played anything and everything from Mary Had a Little Lamb to Stardust, to TV jingles. Much the same way that you learn to play lead with scales. I figured learning octaves it didn't matter what I played, I was just trying to get familiar with getting a clean tone while bouncing around the neck. The added, but unexpected benefit was that like learning to improvise melody, I found I could improvise melody in octaves from just doing so many melody lines. I did a bunch - typical woodshedding. Daryl - Yes it's always refreshing to find someone that correctly spells their name. I've met very few in my life, a couple of guys and 1 girl. Most have "e"s and double "r"s - sad really . Thank you. Yes I think she liked it but she was more impressed with Malcolmb's response up above. Somehow he got credit for being the sensitive guy. I don't really consider myself a sensitivie guy, but I do find words to be moving, especially in a song. It comes from listening to guys like John Prine and Guy Clark. Words can be very powerful when put in the right order... It's always a thrill to get a few right lined-up right once in awhile.

Bdude - Thanks. Joshua - Thank you. Strangley I've not received many mix/recording suggestions on this, and for me it stilll seems like it needs something mix wise. I guess it's just that what I think is good is not and what I think is OK needs work. Dang these ears of mine! Thanks again. Daryl

That is fantastic, I'm working on something similar and heartfelt that coincidentally almost wrote itself. If it turns out half as good sounding as this I will be very happy. Great song and mix.

It's great when it just happens isn't it ? Only ever happened for me a few times and there's no doubt that they are my best efforts. I guess it's because it's what comes from within rather than a conscious effort to sit and write something. Mix sounds nicely balanced as always. I would probably lose the rain/thunder fx if it were mine - a bit cheesy to my ears.

Karl - I look forward to hearing your song. Thank you. Warren - Thanks my friend. Yes, it's about the song and the message. Frank - Thank you for the kind words. I have nothing but respect for your musical ear, if you like it, I'm honored. Luke - You're a lucky man. I've only ever had to that fell in my lap, and couple of others that didn't take quite as long as normal. Thanks you. Paulo - Thanks. My wife likes the thunder and rain so I'm sort of stuck with it and I don't really mind it, but I can understand your thouhts. Glad you liked the mix. Daryl

Hey Daryl, I like this song a lot. The piano sound did not do it for me. The thunder and rain was bit corny for me. No offence meant. Just distracting. Your singing is great as is all the instrumentation.
