    Hi Tim,

What a great piece of work.

I've listened to it a number of times. Mainly to try and establish how many parts you have tucked in there. Is the main guitar doubled some times, or is that a widening effect? There's definitely more than one guitar track anyway... Or perhaps it's the bouzouki.

Everything is so clear in the mix and across the stereo image.

I know it would probably spoil the "energy" of this particular piece but some gentle Bodhrán would also go well with this... Just a simple rhythm.

    cheers

    Thanks for your comments guys!

Andy- I played guitar in stereo first and added the bouzouki and places as a double part over the guitar...I added just a hint of it because too much would mud it up. Ulean pipe samples are underneath it ...mostly in drone. I like the Bodhrán...I think I'm going to investigate that!

    BASSJOKER- Thank you kindly:)

    another bouzouki piece.....
    nice.
    refreshing.....

this almost reminds me of early Heart,
especially songs like Dream Of The Archer

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UsnBT3NofiQ

the blending of the bouzouki works so well,
as if it takes the place of a mandolin, it could set in anything from rock to celtic

this really needs a vocal melody, dry as a bone, and personal.

As bats says it needs a vocal.

    Here's a hook I came up with.

    I'm stronger now

    I'm stronger now

I concur.....very nice playing Tim. Recording an acoustic is always a bit of a challenge and you've done an excellent job on this (as well as all the other instruments).

Enjoyed listening to your other tracks as well (currently on Ride the Wind).....good stuff you got here Tim.....nicely mixed.

Very nice recording and performance Starise. There are some cool things going on in all of the parts. It's cool to hear how the different instruments are combining musically and timbrally. Just curious, are you looking for feedback or did you just want to share?

This really works for me, Tim.  When all the parts get going after a couple of minutes in, the way they are so skillfully intertwined elevates this song to a new level.  I hope you keep going on this path at least a while longer.

Just the right touch of reverb on this song.  Everything sounds so clear but yet, the way the individual tracks are intertwined together, your attention is constantly drawn from one instrument to the next.

I wouldn't change a freakin' thing. But to add the Irish drum here and there, might make it slightly tastier.

I don't think it needs vocals to say what it has to say.

    very very well done!

    Hi,
nice time spent listening to this folkissimo tune....
Nothing to add except maybe a kind of drumming here and there.
    Very open sound.
    Cheers.

My apologies for being gone so long...we had a death in the family and frankly it's turned everything upside down for awhile...including making music which has taken a back seat to all the other stuff. I really appreciate all of the comments as always!!

Batsbrew-  Thanks for that link man! I had forgotten that Heart used a 'zouk....they are kind of tough to get any lows out of and it shows even on that Heart recording...kind of thin on their own. On the vocals...I plan to have more vocals in my next songs!

Yes, the zouk is a lot like mandolin in several ways....if you capo on the 7th fret or so...it's a LOT like a mandolin. Thanks for your Op brother!

Ed- Two votes for a vocal.....I like those lyrics too! Thanks...maybe I should give it a shot.

Daryl-  Thank you! Yes I don't have a zouk with a pickup in it unfortunately...so it was mic'd up as was the guitar. If you have any tips on how I could do that better I'm all ears. Usually it isn't good practice to record a guitar with the inside pickup ( or so I've heard)...but apparently with a zouk some use both the pickup and external mics. I was using two condenser mics to record.

Mesh- Thanks for your comments!! Much appreciated!

Amine- Thank you for commenting and listening....I am always open to comments for improvement...so fire away if you have a suggestion.

Lynn- Thanks man! Much of that was more about the production than the playing. If you had heard the rough unmixed version it sounded a lot different....I feel as if this is the style I'm mostly shooting to stay with but I still feel the need to sometimes stray and write a pop/rock song too.....I'm a pisces and we can't ever seem to make up our minds on anything :)

    Jim- Thanks for listening!

Tom- Thanks for listening and for your suggestions! I like the drum idea a lot!

Wookie- Thanks for listening. Much appreciated!

    Dan- Thank you!

    ohgrant- Thank you !

    clint- Thanks for listening!

    Rimshot- Thanks for listening!

Batsbrew- Mostly done I think but if you have ideas  or even want to put a part in it let me know. I'm open to anything like that!!

    Awesome.

Its pretty solid that way it is. I particularly liked the flute, but there is pleny going on.

Vocal, yea, it would take it. Should be in irish, song nasally a with a lilt and some ornamentation. I should be able to try something if really wanted to go that route.

The Celtic road continues...   Once again, great job Tim!   As I've said before you really seem to have a knack for this style and this tune is no exception.   It's great hearing the real instruments, not something one comes across every day.   And you certainly did a good job recording them as everything seems to have a place.

Oh... and yeah, I can hear a bit of early Heart too.

Great tune. You capture that Celtic vibe so well with your songs. I really enjoyed it.

Very nice Tim! I'm really enjoying the interaction between the guitars. Great vibe on this song. Puts me in a very tranquil state of mind. I really like it. Well done!

DRrank- Thank you for the comments...yes it was quite a few parts in there working together and I would think I had it close only to need to return and make another change :)

SteveC- Thanks man! Yes I'm not sure I'll get off the celtic kick soon since I invested in a bouzouki and violin (which I'm learning) lol! I did make another song recently from another genre but I haven't posted it anywhere yet. Early heart you say? I like those people :)

    god-z- Thanks for listening!

Leadfoot- I'm glad it had that effect on you since this was a goal..I wanted to relax folk without putting them completely to sleep ;)

    Walt- Thank you!!!
