I'm downloading X1 Producer - see you when I get back from holiday (a moan).

I appreciate the help I received from my question yesterday re Dimension Pro and Pentagon  not loading in S1 Essential. To cut a long story short, it was due to the fact that Essential is 32 bit and I had loaded up 64 bit synths.
Yesterday I tried to find the Essential files (I do backup) for my reinstall  but couldn't find them, so I tried to re-download from Cakewalk.
I gave up after an hour or two, and made a better effort to find the backup on dvd.
I debated all day today after being told why I had the issue, and tonight decided to bite the bullet and download/upgrade to X1 Producer. "Only" $99 and for me to move to another daw would be at least as much. But $99 is not chicken feed to me, this is a hobby.
I am now trying to download from Cakewalk, and the only digit moving is the time left section, and it's heading north.
I'm on FIOS and I just checked my download speed, at 17+megs per second.
So I don't think it's me.

I have hardly ever complained here, perhaps because it's just my "hobby" and I might not open up Sonar for a few weeks at a time.
Beatscape part one (2.9gb)  is now showing 5 hours left.
And Cakewalk - why is there 12 versions of the same thing (Download instruction.rtf) shown in my download area?
Update: Beatscape has jumped to 7 hours.

Sorry for the rant and Cakewalk can move this to wherever they like, I'm off to bed - in a bit when I've finished my beer. Or three.

Edit: Well... to be fair Explorer is at least downloading the stuff, better than a crawl. Chrome may have been the problem, although I've used it for some time. Sorry Cakewalk.

    Thanks JSkeen.
I spent part of the afternoon looking at the entry level Cubase 6 at Sweetwater, and came close to ordering. Part 2 of this install has just stopped again completely. I hate downloads too. This is the last time. It isn't that it's time critical per se, but where (and who) are "cloudfont"?
It does look like I can get everything else, but what's the point if the install is stuck?
Is this because there is a trial version available now?

Well - I seen a lot of horror story's here about the downloads and IE. A lot of people got a decent download by using Firefox, Opera or whatever, but not with IE. Personally I had a few problems (ultra slow transfers without any reason) with the new "improved" network protocols hiding in Vista/Windows7 while connecting to any other system (Windows XP, Linux, Solaris, OSX, BCD etc.). That said - I am sure the improved protocols are really an improvement ... if you are using Windows7 and nothing else...

Bottom line - try a download manager or/and another browser than IE...

Another question.. I see you are downloading the upgrade to X1 producer ($99), but you also told us you where using Essential. I really hope you are owning Sonar 8.5 Producer, otherwise you are downloading the wrong update. The upgrade from X1 Essential to X1 Producer to my knowledge is € 279,- (don't know what they are asking in dollars)... Or did I missed some action or something?

Just about everything has downloaded now. I do have 8.5 Producer, but picked up Essential when X1 came out as I liked the idea of X1 and I wanted the "cheap" option. Truth be told, I didn't know it was 32 bit only. I just spent time and money upgrading to 64 bit and so am disappointed that another upgrade is necessary, but that's not really Cakewalk's fault, I'm sure I missed it.
I try to be really careful and watch out for the "specials' that may come out with Cakewalk, and  my Sonar upgrades started out with a special from Project 5, so I can't complain too much.
    Anyway, I appreciate the comments.
