I'm having one of those moments...
...where you listen to something you haven't heard in years and then wonder why you stopped for so long. After watching that BBC documentary on Prog yesterday I've been digging out some of my old stuff and so far things have been pretty enjoyable. Then I put King Crimson's Red on and am completely blown away. I realize how much more I appreciate this now than when I was younger. This stuff is GREAT!!!! I'm just sitting here working with a big smile on my face. Except for when a friend lends me the new Flying Colors CD in a day or so, I'm pretty sure there's going to be a lot of "vintage" Prog coming out of my speakers. Happy! Happy! Joy! Joy!

Good idea. I did something similar--also thanks to the BBC Prog show. I got to checking out some of the links on that page and I stumbled onto this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dp1AkeH9UpQ

That is a great feeling when you're literally taken back with how bloody good it was/is. I did the same thing yesterday with 'A day in the life' (yeah I know the Beatles are over done).

Heh, funny you should mention the Beatles. I have most of their remasters one after the other in chronilogical order on an .MP3 CD that I've been playing in my car (13 out of 20 CD's - I couldn't get all of them to fit at 192kbps so I kept the compilation CD's off - still pretty amazing how many ARE on there though!).

they really are the definition of 'necessity is the mother of invention' though. The way they filled 2,4 and ,much later, 8 tracks - brilliant. Do you have the stereo or mono remasters? The mono masters are the real mccoy - the ones that the band themselves signed off on.

It's great to recapture some of that excitement. I've also had the opposite happen. I've relistened to forgotten gems and then wondered how I ever enjoyed the crap I was hearing now. Somehow it wasn't as magical as I remembered it.

I think someone has altered the timeline by making some of my older stuff sound really lame. What other possibility could there be?

I had a moment. It seems like it was just a moment ago.
