I'm in for Platinum

Ok, I paid the lump sum price for Platinum and I'm up and running.  I figure this gives me the right to gripe about things here on the forum for another year.

First of all I'd like to say that the Command Center is a thing of beauty.  Fastest upgrade and the least amount of work (typing, cut and paste) I've had to do for any of the five DAW programs I own.  Since I already own most of the CW add on products, I didn't have to deal with them at all and that saved a bunch of time.

Opened up the Console view and stretched it (full screen) across the two 22" monitors I have sitting on my desk and positioned the Track View on the 60" Monitor mounted to the wall behind my desk.  I removed the ProChannel and Input Trim modules and immediately started creating (stackable) sends and adding FX to the FX bin.  I was a little disappointed that the removal of the Trim and Prochannel left a big space at the top of the screen.  I would have preferred that the FX bin and Sends module would have justified themselves to the top of the screen and left the empty space above the Fader module but after loading up some sends and some FX it wasn't bad at all and almost gave me the "socks running up and down my legs" feeling I get from looking at the PT11 mixer window.  Good job on that, Cakewalk team.

One thing the Console View could use is another width option.  I know that touch control drives a lot of the GUI decisions but (for me) I feel like there is so much wasted space in the Skylight GUI.  However if there was a normal, narrow and "medium" width for the Console tracks it would be a wonderful thing.  About a 10-20% reduction in the width would allow the FX modules to display the effect name in a manner that would be easier to recognize and give me 1 - 2 more channels visible per 22" monitor.  Reaper gives an option to reduce the size of the GUI by a percentage and sometimes this works magic but sometimes it doesn't work well with some of the user made skins.  I still plan to explore the options of changing my screen resolution to see if that helps me any.

I can tell that I'm going to have to relearn SONAR somewhat to get back up to a good speed but I am looking forward to working in this environment on upcoming projects.  I really like Pro Tools but I will be the first to admit that it has it's things that tweak me just as much as SONAR.

Good to have you back aboard. I really like the new fx stack too. Seems like a little thing until you truly have a stack you are actively adjusting.

Glad to have you back, Dave.  We've missed your input and help around here, (especially with Toontrack vs Sonar issues.  I look forward to your feedback on the new version.

When so many people agreed with your comments in the forums about the sends, I think that had a lot to do with why the current protocol was implemented. So you can give yourself a pat on the back, too.
