I'm very confuzzed

Is the coffee haus no longer a fun place to be off topic, off color and off beat?

Is Janet nepalitano in charge? Did pbo take over the Internet?  What the hell happened?

There are plenty of serious forums.  If this one is no longer allowed to be fun, I am turning in my post count and moving on

I used to think we were all kinda friends

Oh am I allowed to chose my own avatar which refers to ufos and stuff if a few people do not like that topic?

I'll see if I can make it less confusing for you guys:

It used to be that being off topic was on topic. But something went off so that now what's on topic is talking about what used to be off topic and whether it should be on or off topic now. But no one really knows what's on topic now so we can't go off topic without fear of making a mistake.

In order, then, to discover the limit of deepest tones, it is necessary not only to produce very violent agitations in the air but to give these the form of simple pendular vibrations. - Hermann von Helmholtz, predicting the role of the electric bassist in 1877.

    Don't think twice it's alright.

Somebody created a draft on the way out and the chandelier started swinging.  Some confused it with a terminal apocalypse headed this way but I think the chandelier will stop swinging long before the REAL apocalypse comes, which ultimately it inevitably will.

Off topic can be on topic, but if it's too on topic we're s'posed to turn it off. This in turn turned some off topic folks off.

I'm confuzzed too cowboy. I dedicaste myself to working for a couple of days and my moral compass is spinning like a top now.

Will somebody pass me their notes so I can catch up on what I obviously missed? I cannot abide the loss of yet another wilderness area and I want the CH back, warts and all. I post on a small percentage and read only those freds that interest me. I thought that things were good.

    I'm so confuzzed

A certain few that show up occasionally have decided that those of us who practically live here need to keep things the way they left it on the oft-chance that they might drop in again.  Kind of like hitting pause in the middle of a soap opera I guess.  You may be away for a week, but you want the plot to be exactly where it was when you stopped watching.

A forum designed for off-topic silliness is now an on-topic, boring copy of everything else that's out there on the net (we even have the same 'ol topics like "Who's the best rock singer?" now) so what was pretty much the only enjoyment I had during the day has been stepped on and kicked to the curb.  That's what I'll miss the most.  What the new management doesn't get is that there was a lot of wit and intelligence going on that they weren't here enough to understand so they felt threatened I guess.  It's the same cookie we all used to enjoy, except that there's no sugar and the chocolate chips have been replaced with colored pieces of cardboard.  Enjoy.

I'm sorry but Major Major is only available to be seen when he's out. If he's in, of course, he is unavailable to be seen.

So when he's in he's out and when he's out he's in?

    Right.

    And that's from now on?

    Until further notice, yes.

Luckily Billy Mumy doesn't scare me...cornfield or no...but this kind of surreal inaneness from Catch 22 does and always will because it's what non-self aware folks use every day to try and understand their surroundings and formulate their world views.  Now that's frightening.
