I'mmm Lost! Core i3 Processor? 2.40Ghz... ? TOOO SLOW?

So my systetm (Core i3 Processor? "2.40GHz") is too slow to run X3? As X3 needs Intel Core 2 Duo E8200 "2.67 GHz"?

Peace!

No, more is involved than clock speed. The i3 is a newer processor and should work fine.

This is the problem with saying software requires one model of a processor or speed "or better." The way modern processors work is not linearly related to the clock speed, and comparison of a single core to a six core processor, is not intuitively obvious. Instead of listing a large number of compatible processors, which would require extensive testing and maintenance, software salespeople just use a meaningless apples to oranges comparison. Your diet should include a red delicious  apple or better. That undoubtedly costs them sales when presented to technically naïve potential buyers.

To be fair, in the more serious part of the market this is not an issue because people keep their system up to date anyway.

I was hooked on the “system upgrades” of the 90s…  But the illusion of faster, newer, better can only be discovered with age…. “State of the art” equals experimental and everything else is obsolete. All the computer advancements of the last 100 years are dust, as todays will be in about 6 weeks when Sonar X4 comes out! Lol!
The only reason I’m upgrading now is because of NO online WinXp support.
My three 7 year old off the shelf WinXP systems still run flawlessly with sonar 8 and I will keep using them but now off line. It’s about music not upgrading!
I thought it would be fun and not mandatory to upgrade to X3 on my new system.
And thanks for the comment as it’s always nice to hear why hardware and software companies still pull the BS upgrade lines and get away with it! One born every minute…   lol ;)

No, its not, but that is just one piece of the puzzle. Your PC is not the only thing that handles performance. A good PC can be saddled because you do not have a good sound card with good drivers written for it. There are also more variables, but that is just one example.
