I've got some more wood...

A friend at work ask me about my music and I told him recording was in low gear because I was into building a few instruments. It lead to him giving me a big board of Swamp Ash.
 
While the guitar project is held up for a few weeks of the finish curing I thought I'd get started on the lap steel.
I still can't bring myself to string up the one my dad gave me. Anyway thought I'd post the beginning of this project.
I have both project photos on line and will post a link for those interested when they're finished.
 
I went with a natural oil finish on the guitar. I read it was the easiest for beginners. I'm going to feel horible if it doesn't turn out. lol  geeze, gassing the easiest method...how embarassing. We'll see in about two weeks.
 
I'm going to paint the lap steel. I want to learn how. I think I'd prefer natural wood but maybe there's a next time.
