I've started my own chainmail production

My chain mail production is cool. It takes much patience and you have to see well and its easy to do wrong.

You're making a guitar out of chain mail?

i dont think that i possible. but for now its just a mail, of metal chain.

in the future i hope. but its so expensive and i have to use some on music too. but i will buy a sword and other armings. but for now i just hammer my fingers and make some rings in a ring with a lock.

That's very impressive.
 
But I would think it would save much time and effort to just cross the street if you see someone carrying a sword.

i dont think it is bullet proof. so youll have to have more armour underneth. like bulletproof west. 3 layers of armour sounds hot.

A 100 kilo suit will be hard to carry (wear). I feel bad for the horse. You do have a horse, don't you? When it's complete perhaps you can find a squire here on the Sonar forums.

Well, they're Vikings you know.  They can handle it. 

There is two different kinds of chainmail. Here is a YouTube video explaining the differents about butted and the type i am making. Butted is fast and easy to make. But ribbed you have to fiddle with the ring to get it in the right position. And then you have to hammer a nail into the lock. It is not for everyone. That's for sure.

i wish. but viking woman used chainmail just like mail ones. they had their own duty in the army named Skjoldmøy. they fought beside men and often used magic spells to destroy enemy.

I'm not a member there, and i dont think it is so big in Norway. Here we have lokal groups acting out, building and crafting. Some friends has even a big viking ship. But there are no organisation other than lokal busyness. For now, i'm alone here where i live. But there is a group in a town nearby. Will try to contact them soon.
 
Ohh... those with the ship are Olavs menn. A christian group acting out of Hellige Olavs time and use him as an example. He was a great man!

lol. Yeah, I meant the Society for Creative Anachronism. I struggle with the other as well.
 
Just curious as about the only times I have heard people talk about chainmail were part of the SCA. I was under the impression it was worldwide but probably just bigger in the states (ironically the only country that never experienced a time without firearms). To be honest, your local groups are likely more historically accurate. Have fun!
 
Most of what I have seen of the SCA, it is a lot of fun for them. I worked with a guy that was king for a couple of years. I was surprised by the amount of time and money he spent making his armor, weapons and practice along with the time spent working in the organization. I find his, and others in historic recreation, admirable in the magnitude of their dedication.
