IGNORE: accidentally posted twice.

For folks who know battery:
I have set up my own drum set.  It has the maximum number of pads (8X16).    I am trying to use it with the step sequencer and/or piano roll.  It seems to have more pads than there are midi numbers available.  First of all, note that there is a 2 octave change in the mapping:c3 is mapped onto midi 36 in the step sequencer, and midi 60 in battery (although it is still called c3, I don't recall whether I changed it).
In any case, battery uses B1 etc, as well as octaves labelled 0, and down to -1 and -2.  I add a row to the step sequencer below c2, and move it down to b1.  Now it is labelled "Unmapped (23)".  When I click on it, it plays "B1" in battery, but when I enter a bunch of notes there and hit the play button, they don't play.  When I add a C#7, it won't play at all, even though there is a c#7 in battery.
Anyone understand how this all works?  Obviously I'm missing something.  Thanks.
