IK CSR reverb on sale at esounds

49.99 until 9/5. Seems like a good deal. I haven't tried CSR. Is this a good reverb?

YES. I love it. A lot. Especially the plate. I like plates. Its how I serve up my vocals. Mmmmm. Plated vocals.

It is a pretty good reverb - actually 4 reverbs.

I'd have one minor reserve, and that is, if you don't already own Valhalla DSP's Valhalla Room, I'd get that one first. Then if you still want another reverb, CSR can be cool.

Incredible reverb, same price, 10% of proceeds to the American Red Cross International Disaster Relief Fund, constant free revisions/updates which aren't just bug fixes but brand new reverb algorithms, already 64 Bit (unlike CSR) and easier to tweak IMHO because of the no-non-sense GUI.

In response to Rain: I just bought VRoom a while ago, and Ubermod before that.

Vahalla room is always on sale for 50 dollars and is quite easily one of the best of its class. It certainly is a wonderful effect, and quite capable. http://www.valhalladsp.com/

"ValhallaRoom is a versatile, true stereo algorithmic reverb. It features several original reverberation algorithms and has been designed from the ground up to produce a wide range of natural reverberation sounds: small ambiences, warm rooms, halls, plates, cathedrals, and into the void.  Updated to Version 1.1.0, with a new Dark Reverb mode (LV-426), and full 32/64 bit support for VSTs (Win/OSX) and Audio Units (OSX).

$50 US for OSX (32/64-bit VST, 32/64 bit Audio Units, RTAS) and Windows (RTAS, 32/64-bit VST)"

Windows 7 64 bit, Sony Vaio Laptop Q740, 8 GB, Sonar Producer X1d, Focusrite Scarlett 18i, Korg Pa500, M-audio 61 Radium Keystation. Using Omnisphere, Trilian, Komplete 8, Morphestra, Orchestral Essentials, Evolve, Orange Tree Guitars, Addictive Drums, BFD2, Melodyne Editor, Studio One 2, Ozone 5, FabFilter.

Needs to be tweaked but don't they all. Sounds like many more expensive ones and it's a steal at that price. Works on everything.

Valhalla is the $50 king at the moment. Buy both and you're sorted.

x64 please... for someone with a 64 bit machine, this is kinda like dangling an old, brown carrot. I'll pass.

I have a 64 bit computer and so maybe I'll hold off on that CSR for the time being. It looks to be a nice one though. I wasn't aware of that plug-in being only 32 bit.

Thanks guys for pointing me toward the Valhalla Plug in. I went to the website and really like the guys modus operandi. I plan to download the demo this weekend. In reading the descriptions it seems that a lot of what the plug-in does is probably too much verb for my use, but it's the room and smaller space settings I'm after.Verbs to add to vocal and guitar without overdoing it. I could be totally wrong here having not tried it as of yet.

The same could be said of most any reverb  if mixed wet and long I would guess. They all have extremes no doubt. If I ever need to mix ancient Chinese gongs in an alternate universe the long verbs could come in handy.

CSR is a fine reverb, sounds great, and truly a bargain for fifty bucks. But AFAIK it hasn't been updated in a decade, just continually reduced in price.

I call this the "Valhalla Effect": when a top-tier competitor comes along that's priced much lower than yours, you have no choice but to bring your own price down. You can only pretend that your more-expensive product is superior for so long, before word gets around that it ain't so. All it takes is one high-quality low-priced product to redefine the entire market and reset consumer expectations. I imagine Sean's not very popular in reverb-vendor circles.

All else is in doubt, so this is the truth I cling to.

I hope you'll enjoy it and that it works for you. For me, it's a charm to program. If you're not sure what a parameter does, just place your mouse cursor over it and you'll get a clear description, at the bottom of the GUI. For example, for this screen capture, my cursor was over the Early Size knob.

That being said, more and more, I find myself using a bit of delay instead of reverb for stuff like guitars and vocals, depending on the song, of course. But for me if often works better.

I have CSR, I use CSR.

Should IK get "off the dime" and go x64 (on all products); oh yeah, most definitely!

VallhallaRoom, very much a "steal" at $50.

If your budget is $50, well Valhalla is x64: its your dime...

Obi, I'm sure you're pushing for x64 across the board; push HARDER!

64 bit CSR is a lot closer than you guys think. I'd drop more hints about it on this forum, but that doesn't always turn out well for myself. Its coming. With some other cool surprises....

Yup, we only have 2 product lines that aren't 64 bit and we are working on both. T-Racks 1.x was LOOOOOONG before I was around. We are on 3.x right now, you can always check them out to see the improvements and new stuff we have added since then!

    Just bought the reverb(s)

I already have the CSR Hall which was a freebie when I bought a bunch of T-Racks singles a couple of years ago.

They will still run in 32 bit mode so not being 64 bit isn't really an issue, but I'm hopnig ti will be a free upgrade eventually (OBI?)

Something we haven't decided to be honest, It depends on what will be included and how they will be presented. Either way, right now will be far cheap than buying the new CSR versions as is because there will be a discounted upgrade path IF there is a charge. But again, this is all speculation. The update still could be free.

Thanks Rain,Rtucker55 and Kreative for suggesting Valhalla. I downloaded the demo and was immediately impressed with it so I bought the plug-in. The only frustrating thing about it was the fade outs on the demo;) Valhalla room seems to sit well in the mix I am tweaking right now.A very intuitive piece of software with very good algorhythms.

Bitflipper thanks for  your comments and the positive comments of some others in regard to CSR. I did a little research and it has been out since something like 2006. I was in on that group buy thing and almost snagged it the awhile back but decided on a different selection then. Even though it has been out awhile it seems to be holding its own in terms of being a workable solution for a lot of people.I watched a couple of youtube vids on it and it seems to hold its own even now

.A plug-in that went for 229.00 and is now 49.00 was something I decided  not to pass up, so I also got this. I can still run 32 bit on my 64 bit machine but I would rather not. Bitbridge is what I was attempting to avoid.

The way I look at it, having CSR for this price will line me up for a future upgrade at a better price hopefully( Obi get on those guys!!! Tell em' to back off all of that "i" stuff for awile and get with it!!!;).)

Even though CSR is getting long in the tooth by now and long overdue for an upgrade to 64,it seems to be a good reverb as evidenced by a few here. There are  resources for extra user settings on the CSR, so I'm going to look again for that link . It seems to come very close to those Lexicons from what I have read. We'll see.

    Congrats on both your purchases!

I bought CSR during a similar sale recently - it had been on my wishlist for the longest time before I got Valhalla, and seeing it as such a price made me pull the trigger. Since it wasn't one OR the other, it seemed like a good opportunity even if just to get a sweet deal on the upgrade.

@Briston - Yes, you can install it on 5 different machines before needing more authorizations. If you run out let us know. The only catch is you are only supposed to use it on 1 machine at a time. We are working on 64 bit CSR and a few other surprises. I'll keep you posted on those when they get closer to release.
