Oh dear!  I had to give up on their Philharmonic Orchestra due to a reluctant tech support (still 32bit?).  Email was a problem too.  Too bad, I liked that program as much as EWQL's orchestra.

I suspect the IK company's day is coming to its evening shadow.

    Have you done the usual:
    reboots, system-restores,
    IK updates,
    SoundLibrary re-install,
    64 to 32 bit with Jbridge (if you're 64bit)?

Where's your 32bit VST folder and 64bit VST folder?

(You don't have to answer any of this ... just trying to help a little)

everything is in the default folders except the sound library, which is on a separate drive....
he asked me i new where the .dll were located.... i assumed it would be in the default folder... but still didnt work....
when i use RIFF as my host, all of my IK Multimedia VST's stuff work fine.....
    no luck in sonar......
i want to have this problem resolved b4 i install my EWQL Complete Composers Collection.

Each EWQL module is a nightmare too.  You've really got to be careful where you install EW sound libraries and not to mess with many 'default' directories.  It may take you a week or 2 to install the complete collection.  A large SSD drive is your friend (if you can get one)

But many of us can help you there.  Also, EW has had excellent tech support for me.

But how do you really feel, James??

Seriously...I've got (and have had) most all of IK's stuff since it was introduced and have updated regularly and have never experienced any of the difficulty you are experiencing.  Sorry for your troubles...but it is not ubiquitous.

PS: And yes, Phillip, they are not 32 bit as yet (this ticks me off as well) but I'm sure that's on the horizon.

I have every single software product from IKM running on SONAR 8.5.3 x64 on VISTA Ultimate x64 SP2 and have no problems at all.

I've found there support to be among the best around.

The VSTi plugin should be in the VST plugins folder not in the Program folder where the standalone version is installed. There is an option to choose these when installing.

Yes it does. I am careful not to buy IK products (they are Italian which may explain the half answers).

Although I usually only half answer my own questions so who am I to point fingers? :)

Is there any possibility that they are just in a different (or maybe even hidden) folder?

Funny thing .... I had good luck with their support people as well.   I wonder why some do and some don't.

And I wish the OP would watch his language.  I'm not a prude, but there are people of all ages on this forum.  I don't see a need for the profanity.

Ik is the least of my worries. All their stuff works under the x86 bridge in both of my hosts and I've had good support (when I've needed it)

I still think that there is something going on that can be fixed. If there was more actual info (specs, etc) and less HUGE lettering and all, I wonder if maybe something could be fixed? I think technically too, this should be under software since apparently it's not a sonar problem?

I use Sonik Synth 2 and Philharmonic Classic without any problem on Windows Vista and Windows 7 but as soon as got the buy one get one free bundle I got Riftworks and Sample Tank 2 L. The Sample Tank has a authorization problem on my Vista/Windows 7 machine (originally runs Vista and I upgraded to Windows 7) It generates a single authorization key that locks me out of installing the libraries! IK Multimedia has never been able to help me on this problem. My Windows XP machine runs Sample Tank just fine! I'm going to stay away from Sample Tank on Vista/Windows 7 machines. They are trying sell the "add on" sample libraries to me right now but I just don't pay any attention! No More IK Multimedia stuff unless it's a upgrade of something I have already that works! I'll stick with Native Instruments stuff!

    Stevie,

When someone has a problem, I don't discount it.  If possible I try to help.  I just have trouble with people who treat a "public" forum with lack of respect.

As for the problem - there are some plugins that only have problems in Sonar, as there are some that only have problems in other hosts.

As many of us know from experience, many problems have solutions.   But attitude matters too ;)

Anyway, I'm gonna remove myself from this thread as I have nothing to add.

Have you tried installing them under compatibility mode? Also, did you try turning off the uac for the installation? Probably won't help since you mentioned it not authorizing but thought I'd try.

Sounds to me like you have multiple VST plugin folders...
Make sure Sonar is scanning the folder where the IKMM plugin dlls reside.

FWIW, I have most of the IKMM stuff... and it's running well (Win7x64).

The T-Racks singles most definitely do not suck...
Sure I'd like them available as 64Bit code...

I own a number of their products and have never had a problem with the installation. One can only assume you've guided the installation and placed them in a folder that's not being scanned or you let it default install and it's defaulted to a folder that's not being scanned.

Some installations of products in general use ambiguous language and you're not sure if you need to create a folder or it will create the folder or sometimes exactly where it is putting it - either in a sub folder or the root folder. This maybe the case so if they are installed, then search for the .dlls as they must be somewhere.

Shouldn't this thread be in the "Software" forum? And why do people with anger management problems have to use huge fonts and 20+ exclamation marks?

This forum, as I understand it, is about SONAR products and any problems that one encounters...The last time I checked, IK MultiMedia is not affiliated with SONAR in any way...

I have many IKMultimedia plugins and all work perfectly fine under my windows 7 x64 Sonar 8.5 x64 installation via bitbirdge.  As for installation locations - every IKMultimedia product was installed in my \Program Files(x86)\Cakewalk\Vstplugins folder - none of them created any sub folders.  I chose that spot during the installation and I also chose to put my IKMultimedia libraries on my dedicated Sample Library drive.

Freddie - I love you man, but these products do not suck simply because they do not have native 64 bit support.  Would I like it?  Sure.  But they work perfectly fine over bitbridge and I'm happy with the results I get from these excellent plugins.

I'm sorry to say this to the OP, but this is not an IK issue - it has to be a user installation issue.  Personally I would strip every on of them off (they all have uninstall routines) and reinstall them paying particular attention to the installation directories, making sure they match the others you have had success with and also please review the portion of the help file on "Organizing Plugins" it tells you how to add additional locations to scan as well as list the areas already set to scan for plugins.

can someone point me in the right direction, please?
You might want to calm down a little before you start bashing ... if it turns out to be user error, then you end up looking like the fool.  I own a number of IK Multimedia products, and I have never had a problem installing any of them under XP or Windows 7.  I always install the VSTs in my X:\Program Files\Cakewalk\vstplugins folder (similar to what Jind does) and the rest of the program in the X:\Program Files\IKMultimedia\<product name> folder.  Sonar's VST scan is pointed to the X:\Program Files\Cakewalk\vstplugins folder.  I think the main point here is to point Sonar's VST scan to whatever folder your IK DLLs ended up in, assuming you know where they went.  If not, then like others have suggested, you should uninstall and pay a little more attention to the reinstall.

For the record, I have also had good luck with IK's tech support ... they may not be the fastest on the planet, but they were still reasonably responsive and addressed my issue.

Oh wow allot has happened since I was here last!

@spam: woohoo! Heeeeees outta here! Though, it would be nice if the people who quoted it would remove it to make certain nobody clicks those links.

    @"software": yep, thought that myself

@font size: yep (sorry freddie, not trying to single you out)

@x64: All my stuff works, though it would be nice (since x86 windows are not quite like x64 option wise) color me IN on x64 stuff, but OUT with the large font/over the top statements.
