IK Multimedia T-Rack S plugs, any good? UPDATE
I bought an omni synth add on to Sample Tank awhile ago, so I would have a better GM sound set for BIAB (TTS-1 wouldn't work, new version supports 64 bit plugs) I keep getting offers for their Mastering Suite T-Rack series of plugins. They talk the right game(meticulously modeled) they look like cool vintage gear, and the sound examples on their website sound good (but how can you even tell!) The kicker is ,they have a whole series of them that they are selling right now for $149.99. If I get two good plugins out of the 16 included it's a good deal. I'm just wondering, does anyone have any experience with these that could chime in?

Short answer: yup, they're pretty good, and yup, you'll find plenty of fans here who'll testify to that. I don't happen to be one of them, having chosen iZotope and FabFilter products for my mastering chain, but I have used the T-Racks plugins and they're quite competent. The "White" compressor in particular is a standout emulation of the legendary LA-2A. I also have the Fairchild 670; I don't know if that's part of the package but it's supposedly an accurate emulation of the compressor famously used by the Beatles on pretty much everything. If the package includes those two plus the 1176 then I'd say it's worth the money. Don't be overly swayed by the "vintage emulation" angle, though. Sure, these are the devices that were standard equipment for decades and can be heard on all your favorite classic albums. But those old-school producers also didn't have a lot of options available to them at the time. Many of them might well have preferred modern processors if they'd had them, as many do today.
All else is in doubt, so this is the truth I cling to. My Stuff

One of my go-to plugs is the Black 76 compressor......excellent on drums or practically anything else (not sure if it's part of the mastering suite, but it sure is a goodun').

The opto compressor and clipper is very good. The limiter is good, linear phase EQ, but I use a different one. I still like to import my mixed wav into T-racks standalone and mess with it. Sometimes that works, sometime it's Mixbus...usually it's my Sonar version that wins.

Same for me! I use 'em and really like them. I have all of them now, via the last group buy and buying credits when they're on sale. Check out Bobby Owsinki's multipart video on mxing and mastering with them. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sq2trw-FUVA I have 11 of PSP's plugs, too and really like them. Platinum is quite well stocked with this kind of thing, but I get carried away with introductory prices! LOL Michael

Thanks guys. There are sixteen of them available. Every one mentioned by name in your replies are included. I don't see how I can miss, except having to deal with their authorization process, which can be a PITA.

It's actually not that bad. Once you install the VST and the Authorization Mgr., you just have to enter the Auth's in there.

Also look at the more recent ones such as the APIs and the Master EQ. Sweet plug.

If I can recommend a plug it's the Mastering EQ, as Fleer said...what that thing does is very nice...

I bought a bunch of them during last year group buy. There are very good if not the best. I like the EQ432 for mastering and eq81 for channel. Like the fairchild 670 and bus comp. If you don't mind waiting the group buy is at year end. Last year we all end up buying 5 for the price of one. I was really happy with it. I also have ST3 which I only paid $99 for during the intro upgrade price. I use ST3 mainly for playing back Standard MIDi File. It is a great replacement for TTS1 in Sonar.

I like most of these, but a couple of them are HOGS! Linear phase EQ and British Channel have me tiptoeing around them. Linear Phase is toggled "off" by default ,which lends me to believe IK knows it's a system crasher.
