IK Total XL Workstation ..anyone run it in Sonar 64 bit ?

This might have been asked before.. what to expect running the IK 32 bit vst in X2 64 bit (bitbridge, no jbridge yet) ? Will it crash X2 ?

I run all of them on Win 8 and they work fine...

I have the Total Studio Bundle, which has all they synths
and all the products....it works fine with bitbridge..

I had some serious stability issue when I used more than one instance of SampleTron and SampleMoog (both are only available as 32bit) in Sonar X2a 64 bit.

Crashes at freeze, project save, project open ... really hard to track down; drove me crazy for about a week, but eventually the IK VSTs could identified as trouble makers and jBridge solved it.

I have them. I don't use them. They work crappy at best in a 64bit enviroment and they're hard to see. (Crappy GUIs) It's been over a year or 2 since we've been "teased" with the release of ST3 and it being 64bit. Eventually I'll buy Kontakt and be done with the IK synths. T-racks CS and Amplitube are great plugs though.

For $135 this Bundle is worth it in my opinion and I own it.  There is a boatload of sounds available in this bundle. Even if the presets are old now, the sheer volume included is worth it if you don't already have other synths or samplers and these kind of sample libraries covered. 
 
To be honest, however, I rarely use these synths anymore, but do admit that they worked fine in X1 and X2a using Win7 64bit and with J-Bridge or Bitbridge.  I know I am just repeating or reinforcing what others are saying in this thread and others.  The major difficulty for me has not been the 32bit issue or using it in Sonar X2a 64bit; the problem for me has been the horrible GUI and the size of it.  It really is impossible for me to use it without using the Windows Magnifier tool [thanks to Bitflipper for pointing that tool out to be used with this product].    Hopefully the future ST3's new GUI will make using this bundle's patches less difficult for many.

Like some here on this subforum, I too have given up on waiting for ST3 as it has been too long in the making. Eventually ST3 will come out (and be 64bit) and have a better GUI.  If ST3 is backward compatiability, (as was indicated in some other thread a year or so ago), then having all of these synth patches available will probably be worth the $135 for this deal.  Even with the age of the patches, they are still generally good and certainly useful if you are willing to wade through the volume that comes with this bundle. I think they are at 16bit and not 24bit; that, if it is correct, could also be an issue for users wanting only higher sample bit rates.  You should look into that issue and see if that will be a problem or not for your future use of them.

As mentioned by others, the question remains what the price of the future upgrade to ST3 will be.  If it is reasonable, then I will probably upgrade and start using this bundle again or more; if the price is too expensive then I am happy with having Kontakt (and its third party libraries) and I already plan on getting Alchemy soon.


So, the price is good.  You just need know what the issues have been with it for some users on this forum.  Good luck and buy wisely.
