Jonbouy actually Charlie was out of town that day and sent his regrets for not being there...he sure wanted to be there and hated missing the session...... so I asked Carter to set in and I think he did a fine job.... I may have to hire him more often. He has some interesting accent and fill habits.

Darylcrowley thanks for the compliment. I come from a country music background (as if you can't tell) and like to mix based on that model. I like to keep the music "open feeling" and did not want the rythm guitar to run interference with the steel drums...and kept them both relatively low so the BGV and lead licks would stand out.

I really like your guitar harmonies

4 hours to do a song from beginning to end? I may have to start praying

I can't even turn the gear on and get tuned up in 4 hours.

Herb, amazing no matter how long it took. Really amazing in just 4 hours. I love the steel drums. Great song.

Tom & Tom I love harmony... in vocals and in guitars.... I didn't set out to break any time records on this...I just started recording and with a number of good takes, I was finished in short order. I enjoyed playing the steel drums on this.... I like to use instruments that you don't hear everyday of the week, and hopefully in a tasty manner, not just to use them....

This is really good, Herb! I echo all the JB comments! love the guitar as usual on this. I'd like to hear you bring the vox up a little in clarity, maybe a little EQ and compression to give them some presence. your voice is really good, of course, just talking about the mix.

love the instrumental break - nice addition to the song.

BJ & Beagle Thanks for the comments.... I'll look into the vox clarity, I'm planning to work on this.... by muting the vox and creating a soundtrack so that might be a moot issue , but afterwards...I'll check it out.

This is pretty impressive for a quick recording. It has a real nice 'live' feel... loose but not too loose.

Peace,

Ian

Nah - But it did take some looking. I just really like to return the favor when someone critiques my tunes!
