IMPORTANT! Everybody Submit This Feature Request In Cakewalk's Feature Request Form!

Ok forum friends and countrymen (and women?) -- I need your help to bring this feature request to Cakewalk's attention:

If you support an optional knob to gain-adjust each individual FX in an FX stack, please complete the following steps:

STEP 1:

Open Cakewalk's Feature Request Form In A New Window and select "Sonar X1 Producer" for "Product:" http://www.cakewalk.com/s...ct/featurerequest.aspx

STEP 2:

Copy This Text And Paste It In The "Description" Box:

Percentage Gain Attenuate Individual VST FX While In A Track Or Clip FX Stack

STEP 3:

Copy This Text And Paste It In The The "Details" Box:

WHEREAS,

It is common in mixing to use a stack of many FX on a track or clip.

WHEREAS,

Mixing demands split-second intuitive FX level adjustments to shape the sound of a track.

WHEREAS,

It is inconvenient to open each FX plugin's window to adjust it's output gain when tweaking the total sound of an FX stack.

WHEREAS,

Numerous Sonar competitors with inferior feature sets (FL Studio, Reaper) still implement the ability to percentage-gain-attenuate FX while they are in an FX stack(0-100%), allowing for faster and more intuitive FX level adjustments in mixing

SO BE IT DECLARED THAT:

I support adding to Cakewalk Sonar the ability to "Percentage Gain Attenuate Individual VST FX While In A Track Or Clip FX Stack." This is best accomplished with a simple rotary knob that sits next to each FX plugin in the FX stack. The knob can be optional and not part of the default GUI.

STEP 4:

Put in your name and e-mail and submit!

Sonar X1c / Intel i7-980x / Windows 7 64-bit / 16GB RAM / Intel SSDs For OS and Project Drives / RME Fireface 800 Interface

---I don't get it.  What's the difference between having a knob and the knobs already in the individual FX--?

I think it means you don't have to open the effect's UI to get to the knob.

As many said on the other thread about this, I don't see this as "important" at all. It's cool to try and rally for your desires, but the thread title is a bit...ambitious.

Well, it's important to him. And it stands to reason if it's important to him there will be plenty of others who will feel it's important to them. Certainly not an outrageous request and it's not hard to see the logic behind it. I would imagine there are a ton of feature requests that are hardly "must haves", but if they pertain to a users particular workflow then they have every right to request it... whether or not it's granted is up to Cake.

Agreed, but it's also a multi-thread discussion with some....lets call it "hyperbolic" language. It happens from time to time but I don't see anything wrong with a little reality check.

Now, if one had a clip indicator for every effect's In and Out, plus a gain for each stage, that would be neat.. A bird's view, essentially. A less mainstream feature than another color request etc perhaps, but for the serious engineer a pretty darn useful thing.

True enough. It's kind of weird to rock up and demand that everyone else support your feature request, though.

On the other hand, it is indeed quite refreshing to see a request for an actual feature, rather than more banging on about fonts and colours.

Throwing in my subjective view, I don't think this is something I'd have any use for myself.

Having read the other thread on this topic I must admit I do wonder how this would work if there was only outboard gear to work with, oh yes thats the answer one would have to use the wet/dry function of the FX device.

But then thats me nothing like the KISS philosophy.

One question that I would like an answer to is how are you making the changes with a mouse or are you using a controller of some kind?

This would be more logical I'd think.

Try using one of the various effects rack hosts (eg. Chainer by xlutop).
