INPUT ECHO BUG!!

I seem to have run into a bug where my global input echo button stays on, even though input echo is disabled on every track.

Here's a video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CRCc74m7lps

A
nd yes, my Sonar version is the latest with Windows 10 Pro 64 bit, etc.

Do you have this checked off in preferences ? Preferences > MIDI > Playback and Recording=  "Always Echo Current MIDI Track"

Try unchecking it

Nope! I always have "always echo current MIDI track" unchecked. I use too many key-switched virtual instruments, so automatically echoing my tracks is annoying.

Incidentally, checking this, applying the result and then un-checking it does not fix this problem.

Tried clicking the Audio Engine button/midi panic button ?

I just gave it a whirl and everything looks good here. Are you using a control surface ? possibly it is sending a message to the input echo, though it does seem odd that no tracks are selected.

Is the only issue that the light is on ?
What happens when you toggle a tracks input echo ?

I would suggest reporting it in the problem reports (in the Bakery) but im not seeing the same here and hopefully some others will try to repro the issue.

I can CONFIRM that when I freeze every track in the project, save the project as a BUNDLE, then RE-BUILD the bundle -- the global input echo button is still stuck on.

IN fact, if you really want to troubleshoot, here's the 293mb Zipped bundle (*.bun) file. See if the global input echo button is stuck on when you try to re-build it:

OK, I THINK I Fixed the link to the Cakewalk Bundle File -- I have to ZIP It first so a web browser knows what to do with it. Chrome tries to play rather than download a CWB for some odd reason

Absolutely, I love this forum, and I try to help where I can too!   I have shared themes, tech tips, etc...   but just a little frustrating when some people aren't even open to the idea of the product having a bug. :)

Alright I loaded up your project and got input echo turned off.
How ? well to be honest im not sure why but tracks 21+22 were on (input echo was on both of those tracks).
However trying to disable them wouldn't work, but holding down CNTRL and selecting the input echo button twice toggled the quick groups function and it worked.

Im guessing some how you turned on a quick group (which is very easy to do) by holding CNTRL+ Input echo on one or more tracks.

So HOLD CNTL down while toggling input echo on track 21 or 22. 2 or 3 times should do the trick.

You have plenty of time to use this thread as your soapbox (because it has the word "bug" in it) but you have little time to help the OP.

LOL dude sorry, the bug was not a project-stopping bug -- just cosmetic and annoying. I gave all the info I had on it and left it to the developers/community.

I appreciate you digging more deeply into troubleshooting. There remains a discontinuity between the track view display and the console view display, as well as improper global input echo button triggering  -- both are bugs that need fixing.

I was totally ignorant of Quick Groups being a feature, let alone one that could impact this. It does seem to play a role in the larger bug and so thank you for educating me on this.

I can CONFIRM that when I freeze every track in the project, save the project as a BUNDLE, then RE-BUILD the bundle -- the global input echo button is still stuck on.

i can CONFIRM that on my system, in the just-opened state of your project, global is OFF here, although track 22 is ON (auto-thru)

I'm going to mark this thread as answered by Chuckebaby (as much as it CAN be without Cakewalk's intervention) . . . cause I don't think we'll find out more about this bug until the developers themselves download the project and see what is happening in Sonar's source code.
