INVERSE Ducker Need.... dont know HOw to...

This is my scenario

Track 1 Mono VOX spoken word track...
Track 2 Stereo Muzak Track..

Simple right ?
not so...read...

well i need that when the RMS level of the muzak goes down...
the vox track folows the volume of muzak track and goes down...
and when the RMS level of the muzak goes up

the vox track goes up on volume...

I have tried a ducker but ARGGGG makes the oposite
muzak louder ...vox lower.....

Any idea on how to tackle this...
?

Any feedback apreciated....
im really frustrated about this

Greets
Rolo.

An expander/gate with a sidechain will do this. You plug the music into the sidechain and the voice into the main channel and just set the gate so that it reduces the voiceover a few db when the sidechain signal falls below threshold.

    Cheers.

The cakewalk fx dynamics processor (included free with every version of sonar and I think every other cakewalk recording program) will do it, but there's a bit of a workaround required. RTFM for more detail. Sounds great, incovenient to use, though.

db audioware makes an inexpensive processor that does all kinds of side-chained signal processing. Again, it sounds great, but there's a limitation-- you can only use one instance of it at a time.

If you wish (as I do) that cakewalk products had better implementation of side-chains, please request here:

www.db-audioware.com - They make a compressor that will behave in the side-chain fashion you desire.

    Greets Rolo!

Fwiw..... If worse comes to worse, Rolo, you can also throw a volume envelope on the music track and automate the volume that way. This is actually what I do, as it is faster for me.

    Hope this helps.

    Hi yaaaaaaaaaaa CHazzz!!!!
    sup!!!! man...
    hey...

well.... yes i some how think of that.... but the thing
is that i want a more "auto" way of doing it....

maybe i start doinf the envelope thing....
but in the meanwhile....still looking for the holly grail of an "inverse ducker"
    or Gate/expander with side chain....

    Bless...
    Rolo.
