Idea: an attachable 5" or 7" touchscreen under monitor for mixing
Yes, the title says it all. This seems like something that'd be VERY easy and pretty inexpensive - between $45 and maybe $75 - to pull off. I've been considering getting a small HDMI touchscreen, just something between 5" and 9" perhaps building a little mount or case for it and in SONAR (or my software of choice), placing the channel mixer on that screen to be able to mix "by hand".
Not sure if it'd be a good idea though. I'm not even sure I'll go through with it, more of just thinking about the concept itself to see whether it'd be doable. I guess this might be testable (albeit to an imperfect degree) using an iPad/tablet or phone and some sort of remote desktop that supports multiple monitors. I might give it a shot for a few days and see if it works any.
