If you own two computers, is it ok to put Sonar on both of them?
Hi Cakefolks, I have a question.
Sorry if it has already been covered, I searched but came up empty.
If I own two computers, is it possible, (legal) to put Sonar on both of them? Also, are there any additional measures I need to do for the install to go smoothly?
Also while I'm on this subject, I own Miroslav Philharmonik, does anybody know if I would be able to install it as well on my second machine?

Methinks the license sez you can install on another machine as long as you're not using it at the same time. Honor system.

Thanks very much for responding, I think I may have posted this too soon. I just found a whole slew of responses here on the forums to the identical question I asked. I'm a little impatient going through stuff sometimes.
Do you know if you can use the same registration code? I don't plan on using it on both machines at the same time either.
I respect Cakewalk's software and wanted to make sure it was cool.

I can't speak for Miroslav, but Peter J is on the money for the Cakewalk license.
Don't try to register through Cakewalk on the second machine (It's not necessary, and you will get a message that it is already registered).
Simply enter the Serial Number and Registration Code(yes, use the same one) when prompted, and you are good to go.

And you must be the only person using it. The License Agreement says its a license for one person (the licensee) to use the software on one personal computer at a time.

As others have said.
You can put Sonar on as many of your machines as you want.
When you install each one you won't need to do it online, as you already know the serial number & registration number. That's all you need.
But... You can only have one instance of Sonar open at any one time.
Cakewalk have no way of checking this though.

Aloha If you have Sonar 8.5 and up grade to X1 you can have both running at the same time. My system I have a Toshiba running Cakewalk 3.0 a HP running Sonar 8 Studio a Sony Vaio running 8.5 PE all run at the same time when X1 arrives I'll bump 8.5 off my Vaio and put 8.5 on the HP I'm looking to chain it all together using SMPTE or MIDI. gato

If you have Sonar 8.5 and up grade to X1
you can have both running at the same time.

On a technicality, if you upgrade from 8.5 to X1 you should still only use one at once. For that matter, if you've done the upgrade path all along, you should only use one instance at a time, regardless of how many versions you have installed.

Why??
Each product is a fresh install, you don't need previous versions once you have a new one.
All that "upgrade" means is "because you have been a customer in the past, we'll give you a good deal on our latest product".
An upgrade of, say, Sonar 8 to 8.1, required 8 to be installed, so you could not (legally) use both 8 and 8.1 at the same time.

Aloha, Truth. I bought 8 Studio, then 8.5 PE. +++++32 bit and 64 bit versions issue?????? Each is registered as separate item. (not 32 and 64 bits) Next is X1 which is not an upgrade -- it is a new product. aloha gato

All my upgrades seemed to have given me individual software keys for each version, as though I bought each one seperately.
