Ik multimedia at IMSTA
For what it's worth. They claim SampleTank 3 coming November 1. Won't be tied into custom shop at launch. I saw it up and running. Looks cool. Has Ik effects in the mixer. Big clear gui. Didn't seem groundbreaking, but it looked nice enough. Demonstrator said the price would be 299. He didn't know the upgrade pricing.

Is that 299 ipoints? Surely if it's actually $299, you will get ALL other IK products thrown in (twice), plus the bosses Ferrari, his yacht and if his daughters are good looking......well I think I'd better stop there

The demo guy didn't know. What was amusing was when showing t-racks, he said the secret that mastering engineers don't tell you is that they use presets in t racks. You can get full mastering for 99 dollars.
ST3 wasn't even mentioned in the demo, I asked about it and got to see it for a minute or two.

Considering how a lot of albums which potentially could have made it on my favourite lists were systematically butchered (I don't use the word master because that is NOT mastering) I am tempted to believe that.

thanks to ik's "discount it soon after scheme" I'll do the same if they offer me an upgrade from ST2.
I still think their structure of how they deal with re-downloads and transfers isn't "so good"
I'm more likely to buy from esoundz than direct.. solely because I could re download it years later..

I'll take a ST3 player for my existing libraries.

1 - If you saw SampleTank at IMSTA, it was the Beta version, not including the full library and such. We have been testing betas internally for a while and just started with a small team of non IK employees this month through to launch. Dates are iffy right now during beta testing, but we are planned for the end of the 4th quarter.
2 - I'm curious to know the demo guys name. It find it odd that he didn't know a lot, which make me think he wasn't an official IK employee or could have been an IK artist/engineer/musician. There wouldn't be any details in the demo on SampleTank 3 as it isn't out yet.
Provide me with a name and I'll check in this week to see if I can sneak a screenshot or something for those curious. No guarantees though...

If I remember correctly, there will be lots of free IK stuff for us if you miss that date

Yes you do, we have that thread book marked. But with a release day of November first planned, even if we miss it we still have the rest of 2013 to release it by 2014. ;)

Sorry, I didn't get his name. He was in the small IK room with a guy playing a telecaster through the demo guy's cell phone. I am sure you can track down who was there. He wasn't there to show ST3. I happened to ask him about it and he showed to me for a minute or so and closed it. The main point to my observation was to show off the iOS stuff and point out that t-racks was on sale this weekend.

Actually talked to D Flo (The guy presenting at IMSTA) about it... "I only had these guys for about 3 minutes... I showed them a few Presets and explained to them that a lot of the PROs use the presets to get started and tweak from there. And that our presets our built from Professionals who "lend us" there processing chain.... so that we can learn to mix and master better" So, easy to see how it can be confused when relaying info. Either way, SampleTank 3 is slated for a release that month. :) No GUIs yet though...
