I'll Take My Chances

Ladies and Gentlemen,

The CHB is proud to present our latest offering called "I'll Take My Chances".

This song features lyrics & drums by our newest member Dave (quantumeffect) Carlson

Sadly, Grant was unable to perform on this song due to being detained on Grzylyrg by Bing for questioning about some missing guitars. We're sure he'll be cleared of all charges and will appear on the next CHB song. Possibly with some new guitars??!!?? Bapu asked his son (and our Associate Member) Jason to take up the main guitar solo. Steve took the coda solo. Alex and Philz own the synth section where you can just imagine our song's storyteller cruising on his post apocalyptic scenic drive. Steve and Bapu once again provided rhythm guitars and bass, respectively. Of course Philz did the vocals. Blame Bapu for all production flaws if you must.

We hope you all enjoy this little ditty.

Verse 1
Got my motor runnin’ to the MC5
On a post-apocalyptic scenic drive
To the four horsemen we did succumb
Jersey to the west coast Kingdom come

Chorus
I’ll take my chances
On Satan’s highway
Where evil dances
Get out of my way - yeah

Verse 2
Rollin’ thru Nebraska damn them GMO’s
Now the corn is talkin’ and it’s growing toes
Zombies in Las Vegas dressin’ like the king
Elvis left the planet, even took the bling

Repeat Chorus

Verse 3
They turned it to rubble, this land of the free
But they still lobby the mutants in DC
This land is my land think I’ll stick around
Outta’ my way I’m California bound

Repeat Chorus

I had to turn it DOWN! It blasted in my buds!

Sounds great though :-) Killer guitar tone.

    The vox aren't bad.

If Bapu needs a bass player? I have an Alembic? And I can play that thing :-D

A minor production suggestion? 1:44 to 1:50? I would "swell those guitars..." i.e., start here and end HERE!

Really great guitar throughout, performance and tone are spectacular. And the doubleing/harmony... Spot on.

I would kick the vox up a bit, it's a little burried throughout. (on the buds, keep in mind)

Really a kick ass Rock song, good job.

    Hey Guys,

SUPER job on this MONSTER Rocker!!!

Now, that's what I call a cool, power-packed, kick in the pants rock song!  Thick, juicy guitar tones, two smokin' hot guitar solos, cool synths, wild lyrics and rip'em up vocals, and knock 'em out and drag 'em away, power bass and drums.  And, Ed, buddy, you really knocked this mix outta the park, brother!

I'm on my third listen, lots of wild, rowdy fun, very cool stuff.

Absolutely stellar production, boys, a big three thumbs up from me!

Stonkin', stormin' stuff!! This is excellent guys. Monster riffs, rumbling bass, drums are fantastic, right in the pocket and beautifully mixed.
Moody, atmospheric breakdown with the synths, liking that...visuals would be great with this...love the harmony break...and Philz enjoying himself no end here!

    I quite like it.

The mix comes across well on my little Teac concentrics I use on my mail PC.

Nice effort all round gents.  Will need to have a listen in the studio to get the full effect as I have to limit the levels, no higher than 1.2, on this PC.

    Thanks for sharing.

this song has a different flavor than the previous CHB songs.  it's different, but really great!

I loved the blended synths with the guitar solos!  that sounded cool!  vox are spot on for this song and levels sound good to me on vox for this genre.

this one's shorter than other CHB songs, too.  just an observation.

really great stuff here.  from a personal perspective, I think I liked this song the best so far of the CHB songs!

Smokin' and rockin' all at once! Great riffage too. It's hard to get something as busy as this not sounding like a sea of mud, and you managed it brilliantly. Love the breakdown section, it's all rather splendid chaps, congratulations...

Note to self Teac concentric's lack bass extension.

It sounded good this morning, sounds even better in the studio.

The layers are much more apparent, keys worked well, as for the joyfull guitars .

Really great job on everything guys. There are some parts I don't remember hearing on the last mix that made this an even bigger surprise. Kudos to Jason, it was an honor to have him once again and this time on his preferred instrument. Brother Strummy that last solo is equally as tasty to my ears. Alex and Phil, not sure who did what where, but wonderful job.Phil really great job at the vox and Bapu great job on bass as always and really great sounding production. Dave real nice job coming up with the concept and lyrics. Great job with the performance.

Hah --- terrific stuff gentlemen.  Great production and some excellent smokin' guitar work on this.  I particularly liked the intro as it reminded me of some of the early Eddie and the Hot Rods.  The volume on this machine only goes up to 10 but this number still sounded doggone good.
    Excellent work.

    Love that guitar solo.

Great music; not enough Am, but that is a minor quibble.

My only nit is that the drums are dragging behind a little bit here and there. There would be greater energy if they were ever-so-slightly ahead of the beat. Anyone else hear that?

This is the rock that is a level above what I call rock.  That's a compliment.  I love watching this kind of music live.  It punches you in the stomach.  Everything is well played.  I don't have the ear for production that some of the others do so I didn't hear any problems with drums or anything.  Guitar solo rocks!  Nice bass lines!

hi chaps...some great riffs in this one. i hear what James is saying a little bit, the behind-the-beat is most noticeable in the pre-chorus, but it's not a huge issue. i'd like to have heard a bit bigger/compressed kit to fit in with the genre a bit more. love the middle synths, it's quite Maiden-y at times.some suitably huge bass end from Ed, and sweet solo Jason.

Wow, pretty cool driving rock tune.  Loved the bass.

I thought the vox could have been a db or two higher.
