Ilok Question
I was considering the Softube deal but I tried running a demo that needs an iLok,but although my Ilok software drivers are up to date,I can't get the Ilok to accept any licenses, all I get is no Ilok found. I am running Win7 with IE9 8gig ram and an intel i5quad processor. Anyone know if there is a problem using an old style Ilok? Thanks Alan

Use IE9 32 bits instead of the 64 bit version or as mentioned by AT, you can use another browser. Make sure that the client helper (iLok) is also up to date. I just updated some licenses a few days ago without any issues and this on a iLok v1.

Same thing happened here last week. When logging in, the activeX app keeps restarting; like security is preventing it from running. After a minute or two, I get the client application time out screen. Both of my keys are working, and all of the protected software runs without any objections. I've used IE9, Opera, Safari, and Firefox. None work. I tried other PCs here, and the fourth one finally worked. The iLok support guy is looking at the log and sysinfo to determine the problem. If they come up with something, I'll post back. For now, try any other machine you have available.

asimmd, I had the very same issue, and have had it for a long time. I am win 7 64bit. After wasting all kinds of time trying to get the ilok thing to work on my computer, I tried it on Win XP. My solution was to try it on windows xp. It works fine everytime. Now, if you are running Windows 7 professional, enterprise or ultimate you actually have a built in copy of windows xp that can be run "virtually". I find this very handy sometimes. Note that virtual XP will not work on home versions of win 7. But if you have a system that supports it, start here: http://www.microsoft.com/...rtual-pc/download.aspx

Just my luck,I am running Win7 Home Premium,so I guess it won't work. I just deleted the iLok software from my computer and reinstalled just the driver. I then ran the iLok programme and it worked but it won't let me load the license because it knows I don't have the Client software. When I load the Client software,it then say's there is no iLok connected. You can draw your own conclusions but I reckon the software is the problem. Thanks for the suggestion, looks like I can't have the Softube pack after all. Alan

I've put my iLok aside; it's literally useless for the same 'not recognised' issue. Their support people won't help. Abysmal outfit. How they expect to grow or even sustain their business is beyond me.

You might want to contact iLok as I run Win 7 x64 and have been using two iLoks for 2+ years. I use IE 9. Also make sure you have any anti-virus turned off. You might have an option in IE turned off (such as do not run active X) that is causing the problem. Kevin

Tried installing without Anti-Virus running, and it still won't have it. Looks like I will join the rest of us and confine it to the scrap box. I have sent iLok an email describing the problem,I don't hold much hope of a reply, never mind a solution, but you never know. Alan

McAfee ruled out their software. I got to a second person at iLok who was just as mystified. Finally, I went to my sync log in iLok, found the last date I synchronized, and restored my system HDD to that date. Problem solved. I'm now working forward though system changes to determine where the corruption occurs. If I find it I'll post again. If you don't have a backup copy to restore, you might try upgrading/reinstalling your copy of Windows.

For me the only thing that worked was to go to start menu->search box type in "internet" and you should get 2 versions of Internet explorer, one says x64, pick the one that doesn't say x64 and then I could get my licenses installed. Before that I tried all the supported browsers and I just that same timeout error. Should be trivial for such a big company to add some jscript to detect browser versions and warn about not using x64.

Surely if they are such a big company they should be fully up to speed on 64 bit browsers and everything else for that matter? A company that purports to sell a 'hi tech' solution should be exemplary when it comes to keeping all their systems up to speed with all the latest widely used standards.

I've finished rolling forward, picking up all of the Windows updates and about a dozen software installs and updates. So far, I'm still seeing iLok sync up correctly. I'm going to chalk this one up to an unknown W7 corruption and move on. Pace support did suggest dumping cache and cookies, uninstalling/reinstalling client helper, running as admin, and running the 32 bit version of IE9. None of that worked for me.

There's been many a time I've logged on to iLok's site and had one or all of my iLoks "not found". Usually just waiting awhile and retrying has done the trick. I also HAVE to log on using the small box in the upper right corner and not the main center of the page dialog or else things are screwed. Their site sucks as does their software but in the end it's always worked for me. Guess I'm lucky.

Thanks Alan Alan; I received a similar message recently when I opened my new iLok account and tried to download the product. I was forced to find an older version of FireFox (I beleive that is what the iLok site states to try) and then downloaded the necessary files needed. It wasn't an easy task but just keep working at it the product is worth it! P.S. >I have read somewhere that maybe the Google browser might also work?? Good Luck!
