I'm Having Trouble With The HDSP 9632 - I'm Running Sonar 8.3.1

Hello - Hope you're all doing well. I recently purchased and installed an RME HDSP 9632. I'm mixing my first song with the HDSP 9632 - I'll work on the song for 15 minutes or so and then the sequencer freezes and stops responding. This has happened 6 or 7 times today. Any ideas on what could be causing this to happen? I have listed my system specs below: Using Driver Version 3.2.6.0 I've installed the Flash Update Tool for Hammerfall DSP System Sonar 8.3.1 Windows XP Home Edition Service Pack 2 ASUS P5B Motherboard Intel Quad Core CPU 4 gigs of Ram - (Using only 3 gigs as that's the max amount that my version of Windows XP will recognize) No other Installed sound cards I was using a Delta 66 for the last 7 or 8 years with no problems, so I'm pretty sure that the problem is not with my computer or sequencer. Thank you - Any help is greatly appreciated. -Mike

I don't have any experience with RME equipment directly.  most people have not complained about RME's drivers but this does sound like a driver issue.  which driver mode are you using?  if you're using WDM, try ASIO, if ASIO, try WDM.

Hi Beagle - Thanks for your response. I've tried both ASIO and WDM - Still having problems.

I'm just shooting in the dark here, but maybe you need to update XP to service pack 3?

Could be your power supply going bad?

If you've removed the Delta card and replaced it with the RME are you confident that you've removed all traces of the delta driver?

I recently brought my rig up to Win7 (I'm on 8.5.3) on my RME based rig and it really is very good. I was a skeptic about the benefits but I've had to eat my words on it. If you don't want to make the leap then certainly a fresh install / patch updates to final version would probably help. At least you know, if you still have the same problem, that its probably a hardware issue (bad ram /PS etc)

The latest RME driver was an excellent update shaving multiple percent of the processor load at low latencies and generally appearing to be incredibly stable.
