"I'm Taking Chances" A Blues In E
hi all, playing the acoustic guitar is one of my all time favorite musical outlets as some of you well know , my preference is to simply present a good deal of my unaccompanied solo guitar work as if i was just hanging out with you one on one and just playing a tune my video features some of the various approaches and concepts that i seem to favor when I'm playing my acoustic guitar unaccompanied I do hope that you fine enjoyment in listening to this video "I'm Taking Chances" A Blues In E http://youtu.be/SmT8OsVU8H8 Kenny PS: i offer you a big thank you in advance for allowing me this opportunity to share some more of my acoustic guitar playing with you

Great playing as usual, KW--I've really enjoyed all your recently posted youtube performances. Tasteful, technically impressive, and emotionally true. Takin' chances sure pays off. This one really lifts off around the 56 second mark--a little flourish of brilliance says: "pay attention, this is SERIOUS!" I did, and it was.

What I'd like next is to see you playing some electric, so I can steal some licks.. Hi James, I'm glad you enjoy watching the guitar playing I've been playing on my videos "fresh and interesting "is a wonderful complement to hear from you . thank you I have been thinking about playing some electric on a video ever since I made the first acoustic one a couple of possibility s have been floating around in my head on this topic . I would be curious as to what people would like to see and hear . I've already approached the band I performed with tonight and they are open to having our next performances recorded / video taped the main drawback I see with doing that is the club has lasers w the overhead lights . I will have to nix them lasers and find someone to operate the recorder giving that a shot is on my short list ...next week ? the 2 easiest things I could do at home would be to A , do an informal instructional lead guitar type of video where I just break a few playing licks and nuances down . this is something I'm open to doing , and I want to go there at some point my concern is the amount of yapping away and verbalizing this might involve ... or B , playing over a tune /section of a tune I have already done , play over an available backing track , make my own BT , play over a clip that some one submits to me ... or just play electric w out any track , keep my yap shut & play things at a regular tempo , then play them again at a slow practice tempo ... I would be very interested to know how some of you feel about the above mentioned video possibility's , any feedback or suggestions you might have have will be welcomed please let me know what you may want i plan on getting back here later to continue w the thread hopefully in order I have already listened to a few songs from other forum members here . I haven't commented due to needing sleep also I feel that having fresh ears for a fresh listen w a clear head is how I like to roll Kenny

Well, that was just about a ton of fun, and just the sort of thing I would love to learn to do. Just change your camera angle a little so I can see your left hand at all times, and you have an instructional video. Throw in a tab sheet, and you are instantly marketable. Shoot, if I watch it enough times, I'll be able to pick it up. You're an inspiration. In fact, you inspired me to record Embraceable You a few years back. I imagine I'll plunder your You Tube trove too.

I imagine I'll plunder your You Tube trove too. Hi Mark, I'm pretty sure that if you watched the video enough times , or looped the audio section , you would be able to grab a lot of what I'm playing on this vid . this is exactly what I do all the time when I hear someones playing that I enjoy. Last night i did a little practice video session . i had the camera angle just fine , the on board camera mic's were giving me a decent usable sound . then there was the guitar playing ... well , I'm happy to report that I survived the whole ordeal and barely made it out of there with my life. i must of been channeling Gomez Addams during one of his finely orchestrated train wreck scenes ... the carnage and destruction on the fretboard was absolutely horrific and this session left me no other choice but to destroy all the evidence I'm looking forward to the day when i can just sit and play my guitar comfortably in front of my video device and know that I'm running on all cylinders regarding the quality of my performance, the sound of the music , and the camera angle / lighting / view .... thank you so much for the kind words, I'm genuinely pleased you enjoyed my acoustic blues guitar playing on I'm Taking Chances Kenny

It's impossible to watch you play and not smile :-) I smile big (even though you're playing that "Ovation...." no "serious" disrespect?" :-) I said I was smiling!) And BTW? My 1st "real" guitar was an Ovation, I still have it? And I know they make some nice guitars... I would still like to see you playing a guitar like a Goodall or maybe a Larrivee? Or (insert your favorite here...) You get the idea... Because you could play it a hell of a lot better than most. I do my best to love my guitar? Guitars were meant to be played and loved? (like women) And you play the hell out of that one! I'm going to get mine this evening, take the humidifier out, tune it up? And jam like a mad man for an hour or more! Thanks for the inspiration! Good job...

Good job... Hi Robby, Ovations can be considered a tough sell , I should know, since I once told George Harrison to stick with what he was using when he asked me about what I thought about Ovations all true btw... I'm super grateful to even have this guitar , it is probably the nicest acoustic guitar I've ever owned so far to date ... My Ovation is a New Hartford C.T. USA made 1768 Elite as per the inner label , the 12 th fret wooden inlay says Elite Custom , the guitar has a German Spruce top , a V neck really with nice action and an ebony fingerboard w two tone wooden inlays . this guitar is nicely appointed even the tuning pegs where you twist to tune are made from ebony or a dark exotic hardwood . she is strung up with 12's to 53 gauge strings to me the most important thing is to give the only thing I truly have to give ... myself sharing my music , thats all I really got , and even that is on loan ..... I'm glad your smiling when you watch me play on the video . I was smiling inside the whole time while I was playing Kenny

Hey Kenny GREAT and unique style of playing. I love the sound of a well played acoustic guitar. GREAT job also on the recording of the Ovation. A very hard guitar to record. I do have one NIT. Back that camera up a smidge I would like to see how your right hand is picking. GREAT JOB! Later Kev
