I'm a PYROMANIAC!

I downloaded Cakewalks PYRO 5 software because my Roxio wasn't working half the time. I wanted to be able to rip tracks from CD so I could convert them to mp3.

Its a great tool! It lets you convert it as it rips in one step! And it does everything else from Burning to dual layer DVD and creating ringtones, to making an .ISO CD image! Best $30 I've spent!!

I downloaded this a long time ago and it never worked.

Worst 30$ I ever spent. Sorry DA it just didn't burn CD's.....probably my burner.

It might not have been version 5 either.

I used to swear by "Easy cd creator" before Roxio took them over. Then it became a creation worthy of satan himself. Thank god for Nero

Wow...it works for me fine..and faster than Roxio. Not only that but I was ripping tracks from CD and then using LameEnc in Goldwave to encode to mp3 cuz Roxio sounded teh crap!
It was all warpy and glitchy!

This Cake app does it in one easy step and asks what quality (how fast you want it to rip) and what bitrate or format. So nice.

ahhhh....I bought it because some crazy guy gave me like $300 worth of Out of print Christian CDs!!! LOL [still revelling in my fortune John...thanks!]

(Btw, I mentioned your generosity over at "the other forum" and they all said...

Dude, seriously, take time to sit down and STUDY those CD's. Not just listen to them, but read the liner notes and get a firm grasp of YOUR history as a Christian dance producer. You got issued old school cirriculum, bro. Relish in it.

au contraire, he's potentially the antichrist. his full name converted into numerology was 666 and there are other details of his life that are very similar to the description of the antichrist in the book of revelations. seriously: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Book_of_Revelation

funny name for a software company if you ask me.

Does Pyro let you use the lame codec for encoding mp3s when ripping? Lame is the best sounding encoder out there.

I've been testing this app out, and it would seem thats what its using. I know the P5/Sonar mp3 encoder is LAME so I assume it is for Pyro too.

    DA,

I tried to buy one of these from Edirol Europe. I chose the one that would do pictures and all and not just CD. I put the order in and received a reply from Edirol.......it's not for sale anymore......I thought.......but it was on the website.....anyway....I ended up with Nero so I never got a chance to find out how good it is or isn't...... but so far Nero seems to be OK.

I've used NERO... its great if you buy the premium package rather than the bundled software that comes with your burner....that standard stuff is slow and unreliable. I had good luck with Roxio too until I had to reinstall XP and now it wont recognize my burner.

I notice that the PYRO tries to ID your CD by connecting to the internet, but it doesnt try to connect to the nice database that Windows Media and others use. Most of the CDs I rip arent recognized.
Oh well... small gripe for a good ripper app!

I was, of course, speaking figuratively....

Yeah, but OTOH Windows Media Pooper's database often gets it wrong...I would rather create my own database anyway.

Can Pyro burn mixed data/audio cds? Like a cd that will play music correctly in a regular CD player, and also have data (extras) on it if you put it in a computer? My next album will be like that and i'm looking for software that will do this well.
