    DON'T DO IT!
Once you start down that path, there's no end to it. You'll be working until the day you die. And social security? Forget that! It won't exist by the time you're old enough to retire.
You're young; your parents are legally responsible for feeding and clothing you. You may even be able to stretch that out until you're 22, 23 years old if you stay in school.
    Have Fun!
    While you can.

I thought this same thing a little over a week ago, but everyone at the hoped for new place of employment is still on vacation so I haven't heard much of anything about continuing interviews...

Stay at school and continue to study all whilst working Fridays or Saturdays to fund your music gear, be patient.  Don't expect to make loads of money in the music business -- no matter how exceptionally experienced or awesomely talented; there is absolutely NO guarantee of true success. At your age; best to focus on what matters first; the "song", followed by; "performances" and "Recording Techniques: (hone those skills) then pitch just one to three songs to labels or for music placement in films -- focus on the "quality of the actual song" rather than quantity and envy of what others have (gear). Whilst at school you can more easily round up support (fans). Sure there be jerks at school but do not ever let them deter you from your goals (stay focused). A gifted writer/musician can make do with the very basics; it is not so much the gear you have -- it is what "you" can do. Therefore, do not get locked into living on the bleeding edge of technology and yearly upgrade cycles unless of course you have plenty of money to burn. The absolute most important thing is to "Hone" your skills as a writer, musician and music producer (recording techniques.)

A Jim Roseberry built computer ($1,299) Pro Studio DAW Core i7 (3.9GHz) – This system represents great value, it will give you enough power and importantly; great stability. SONAR and a few well-chosen plugins such as; Valhalla Reverb ($50), a reasonably good mic (monoprice $68) and 8” monitor speakers ($240) is about all you need. Listen to my music, all done on a budget of around $2,500, I patiently wait for incredible discount sales --- and then go for it. The Software forum is a good place BUT only good to find discount sales AND if in ‘doubt’ (not really necessary for your needs) then do not buy it.

Stay focused young man, use the force

Wish you great success for 2014.
