I'm in MC6. What happened to MC5 Export Audio options?
I've upgraded from MC5 to MC6. In the MC5 Export Audio dialog box there are lots of options, including Source Category, Channel Format, Sample Format, and much more. In the MC6 Export Audio dialog box, there is just the export preset choice. Did all those MC5 options go away? Or is there some preference setting I haven't found that will make them available? -Stuart

Actually, everything is still there, but it's just in a different place.... the GUI looks different. In X1 which I use, and MC6 is patterned after, there are a bunch of option in that preset drop down....I always select the "What you hear" option and have never been disappointed at the results.

the export dialog boxes look the same in MC5 & MC6. can you post a screen shot of what you're seeing?

That would be helpful, but I don't see an option here to attach images to forum posts.

I created a Photobucket album with screen shots of the MC5 and MC6 Export Audio dialog boxes. You can see all the options in MC5 that aren't in MC6, at least as the dialog box is currently configured. I don't see anything that matches your description of a smiley face icon above the post box. Here's the URL to the images: www.photobucket.com/mc_export Thanks.

Another thing - I tried to edit my previous post, but I got an error message when I tried to save the changes. I had to cancel out. Is there a problem with editing posts, or am I missing something?

This is what I see in MC5 right before I export the audio. Notice I have the tracks selected and WHAT YOU HEAR is the preset. This will export the audio to the location I selected when I click on EXPORT.

And I get the short list that the OP has, on this computer. I wonder if the full options are somehow related to the sound card/audio interface or whether you have a more advanced Cakewalk program installed? Just MC 6 on this machine with a RealTek. I'll have to check out the DAW machine and what the options there are.

Thanks all for your suggestions. Guitarhacker, in MC5 I get what you get. That's what I want to get in MC6. If you've been able to look at the images I posted on Photobucket, you'll see that the MC6 Export Audio dialog box has almost none of the choices MC5 offers. All I have is the Preset dropdown, and none of the presets give me what I need.

my apologies, I thought I had exported something from MC6 before, but apparently I haven't. you are correct, the dialog box in MC6 looks exactly like you describe and not like the MC5 dialog box.

OK.... My bad.... I thought you were trying to export from MC5..... I have MC6 on a different DAW, not my lappy.... it has MC4&5 only..... MC6 and X1 are on the custom DAW..... I can check on that later and reply back here. I actually don't use MC6 since X1 came out, but assuming they are the same.....since they are both from the same DNA so to speak.....

OK... Just checked MC6. What you are showing is what I got as well. I;m guessing the bakers decided just to keep the most commonly used exporting presets. your options are limited in MC6.... however, you can always open the project in MC5 to export it with one of the previous presets.

I think you're right - I'll have to use MC5 when I need this particular output. Thanks for looking into the problem. -Stuart

Which particular output are you wanting to export? Just brainstorming here, but it would seem you could manipulate your pre-export setup with track selection, or mute/solo selections in MC6, and avoid the extra footwork of opening the project in MC5, and exporting from there. If I had to guess, I would say the export source for MC6 is what you hear. I don't know if that helps, but it's food for thought.

Robert is correct. Use a work around. by using mute or solo, and what you hear you can export any combo of tracks needed. what specifically do you want that mc6 doesn't allow in this export menu.
