It. was. awesome! ...despite almost not being able to do it. One patch cable, one lousy patch cable, sitting back home in the studio. Music stores were closed, didn't know anyone local who'd have one... but MacGyver mode kicked in and the gig was saved. Started late but it was all good.

Yep! Just one patch cable, looped around the neck of that one off-key idiot who insists on singing along to every song, can definitely save the day!
Time for all of you to head over to Beyond My DAW!

Yup. There was a time when that wouldn't be a problem But this shoestring budget that Life gave me leaves no wiggle room. Just before this gig I had $12 to my name. :-\

Godda say that for 4 and half weeks full on and a few hundred quid I now have and own Cubase 9.5 Eeh! with my well used (old leather smell) Sonar Platinum !... Result ... pissed at a company who (most probably) had the best, easy to use, musician friendly software DAW ever! **** of a decision and although the hippie side of me speaks in a soft, knowing voice “ Making a profit is key man … you know that” …... it helps to see so many CW users feeling the loss of this great company … and I bet their de funked staff have that bitter taste of betrayal like us all … yep it's a ****, but life, as they say, ****s on us all ... eventuality

Just before this gig I had $12 to my name. :-\ Well the choice would be easy, 1 spare cable or ( in Canada) 6 pack of beer. I guess I'm lucky and I do get paid enough at the few gigs I do to pay for my gear.I have enough cables, stands and mikes to do sound for 16 channels or more. Some of it is 30 years old. I only play solo or as a duo these days and been slowly upgrading stuff we need for that as the money rolls slowly in. I certainly can't afford to waist $150 on another DAW.

I'm a rags to riches to rags guy. There was a time I could go out and get whatever I needed/wanted anytime I needed/wanted it. A series of unfortunate events changed all that. The gigs I do get do pay nicely. But ALL of it goes into paying bills and feeding myself (and my wife). But 1 or 2 gigs a month doesn't support more than that. And getting a day job in my part of the country at my age - one that pays enough to make it worth having - is almost non-existent. No pity party here, just facts of a life that went sideways without my consent.
