Hey Beags,  My A&H is looking a little gig scuffed and has more than 1 coffee stain on it. Can I ship it to ya?  (Before you get successful and your prices go up?)

Are you using organic water for that?

True horror story:  While playing a gig, some patron at the event sat a beer on the mixer board rack and our sound man asked him to remove it.  As he reached to remove it, being intoxicated, he knocked it over and it ran all over and into the board.Horrible noises came from the system.
We instantly shut it down and disconnected it. A local guy from another band was there and saw it happen. He told us to come with him to his house, that perhaps we could clean it.

At the house, we opened it up and sprayed water from a spray bottle, (not a hose) where the beer had run across the PC board. He used an air compressor to blow the water out and dry the board.  We plugged it in and connected a mic and some headphones..... waaa laaa, it was working again.  Carried it back to the show and hooked it back up and finished that show. It worked fine for many years.

In another unrelated incident..... I'm in the electronic security business. We had a major flood after hurricane Floyd. One of my customer's panels was completely submerged for several days. After the water went down and he started to try to recover things from his business, I was called in to get the alarm repaired. I pulled the old panel out and replaced it with a new one, as well as all the parts that were under water. The water was 6 feet deep in the building during the flood.

I threw that panel in my shop on the bench and forgot about it. One day, several months later, I saw it and decided to see if it would work.... just for grins. The solder joints on the processor chip was corroded as was the rest of the board. I sprayed it with WD-40 and worked the WD-40 into the crannies with a paint brush. I dried the board off and powered it up after connecting a good keypad. That system came up working perfectly. Of course, I would never install it back in since it was flooded and the relays were under water as well...... but cool thing to know.

We use only the finest Texas garden hose water.  No organics were harmed in the cleaning of that board.

Maybe it started sounding too analog and he simply wanted to restore it to it's digital state.
