Import midifiles to just one track

Ive tried to import a .mid file to a miditrack but what happens is that the .mid file is imported/divided to many tracks. I just vant to import the midifile to one track. How do I do that?

I believe midi files can be type '0' or type '1', the former is not separated into channels/tracks, the latter is.  Most midi files of complete songs are type 1 because that's how most prefer it.  Unless you can obtain a type '0' version of your file you'll just have to put up with having one channel per track and deal with it in Sonar by copy/paste/merge to put everything on one track.
I would guess your midi file consists of midi informtion for more than one type of instrument so I'm not sure why you would want all the information on only one track?

It used to be possible to do a "Save As" and pick the type.  I think as long as it has not been saved as a Cakewalk project, then this may still be available (but I'm not at my DAW right now!)

I think you could import the file normally, then save as using Midi format 0. Then re-import it with the newly saved file.  Use a different name so it doesn't overwrite you original.

Ok. Thanks. Convert it to type 0 can be the trick.

It was a session drummer .mid file i was trying to get into my timeline.
