Import patch list from external midi synth

Hi - can anyone tell me if or whether it is possible to import patch lists via midi into sonar? I am using sonar x3 and the synth is a proteus 2000. It has a number of custom banks.
Thanks in advance.

It's possible to import an Instrument Definition which you can use in SONAR, but it's not by MIDI.
You'll need to locate the ID for the Proteus on the internet or create it yourself. It's a text file which you then import using X3's Preferences>MIDI>Instruments.
I'm not sure how you would import custom banks.

If the MIDI Device is one of those supported Midi Quest can help with this.

Actually, I've discovered Proteum software editor; it interfaces via MIDI, and then creates an instrument file just for Sonar. I am checking it out now.
    Thanks!

Cool. I saw that site when I quickly looked to see if there was an existing ID for the Proteus.
I found a utility like that for my Yamaha MX49 a few months ago. Worked like a charm.
