Important issue, Steinberg UR44

   Hello,

I really need your help for following issue. Could you help me if possible?

I'm connecting my mixer to 5-6 line-in connection; but it not work as stereo, so I can't panning.

1. I have checked all cables.
2. When I'm connecting monitors directly to mixer, it is working normal.
3. I can hear everything as stereo with headphone from mixer and soundcard.
4. I tryed enable/disable channel link in DSP mix application.

As a result, all of my tests said that, my 5. and 6. inputs not working as a normal. I'm insorting only 1 cable, 2 monitors playing together etc...
p.s, I tryed connect my yamaha keyboard to 5-6 line inputs but...
I've tryed everything with different cables (XLR and/or TRS, new cables...) and configurations.

Thanks and regards.

The UR44 has inputs 5 & 6 which are mono inputs. You can connect the L&R output of your mixer to the these inputs and then you would control the panning from your mixer.
I you instead want to pluga mono source input into inputs 5 and/or 6, you would use your DAW to pan then.
If you are live monitoring your 5&6 inputs, you would use the UR44's mixer and pan then inputs how you want.

Or, maybe you are having an issue with making the UR44's inputs available in Sonar?

Hello,

I connected Mixer main L/R outputs to the UR44 5/6 inputs; but unfortunatly I can't pan it via mixer. I want to do this.
My mixer has both xlr and trs L/R main outputs, I tryed both of them.

When I connect monitor headphone to the mixer, panning is working.
When I connect monitor headphones to the soundcard, unfortunately it is not working as stereo, so I can't panning.
It seems that line 5/6 inputs not working as expected..

How can I do? Could you help me checking my settings etc.

Thanks again for your reply, regards.

I am confused.
You connect your L and R outputs of your mixer into the UR44's inputs 5 and 6.
If anything is plugged into your mixer and sent out of the L and R outputs, you can't pan it?
Are the L and R outputs of your mixer mono outputs or stereo?
Do yo have the proper cords hooked up going from your mixer into the UR44?

Yes, my mixer has 2 stereo outputs, you can see details at http://usa.yamaha.com/products/live_sound/mixers/analog-mixers/mg_xu_model/mg10xu/

When I insort an audio source to mixer, I can pan and monitor directly to the mixer; but If I use soundcard for monitoring, unfortunately it's not...
I checked and tryed different cords lot of time.

P.s: If I insort only 1 cable to 5 or 6, 2 monitors (headphone left and right) working together as mono.

What shall I do sir? :(

OK.
Please watch this video:
http://www.screencast.com/t/V9MzEY8da3Qh

I have a mini stereo plug with two mono 1/4" plugs at the end.
I took the mini stereo out of my iPhone and plugged each mono chord into inputs 5 and 6 on the UR44.
I then opened the UR44 mixer and brought up channel 5 and could pan the signal and the same with channel 6.
Let's see if we can get your UR44 to do the same before we go to the DAW.

Sir,

You are very helpful, thanks again.

Unfortunately, as I mentioned before, I'm a blind person and can't see your screen cast :(
An other thing, only Steinberg control software is not accessible in the market with screen reader.
Is it possible to connect my computer with teamViewer etc. for set these settings for me?
I'm very sorry for disturbing you.
Could you send your Skype ID or an other communication way via Private message?

Best regards, thanks a lot again.

Hi!
I am so glad we go the first issue solved.
Now for the hiss, in the UR44 mixer, each channel can be assign to MON.FX or INS.FX.
You only want MON.FX if you want to add live effects to your source signal like reverb but not be able to print those effects to your DAW.
If you have selected an option under that other than Ch.Strip (channel strip), then you may be hearing the Yamaga guitar effects which can add lots of hiss to the channel.
So try to on have MON.FX and then below it, Ch.Strip selected and see if that helps.

Merry Christmas!

I don't want to use guitar effects.
How can I turn off them?
Could you share a screencast for disabling hiss's?

Thanks.

Dear Rimshot, sorry for disturbing again.

1. If I set all channel faders to 0 I can't hear any hiss's; but unfortunately my channel 5/6 not working in this way.

2. If ıt's possible, could you set following settings and save .ur44 file from file/save menu then share with me?
*You can download my last settings file end of the topic If you want to look it;

1. I'm using channel 1 and 2 for instruments (as line input)
2. I'm useing channel 3/4 for condensore microphones
3. I'm using channel 5/6 with mixer with panning,
4. I don't want to use fx.
5. I'm using cakewalk sonar as DAW

Thanks again from now.
