Imported Filename Length Issue

Hi,

I'm just starting a project and have 30+ audio files to import, named like the example below:
2015-06-22 - 377-356 My Song - Session Master_BassGuitar.wav

When I import them into Sonar Professional, they look like this:
2015-06-22 - 377-356 My Song - Sess (51)

So, the file name is heavily truncated and I have no idea what it is!

I could import them one at a time then name the track in the track view . . . .  but some of my songs have 40-50 tracks and I would rather not have to do this if I didn't have to. Does anyone know what might be happening here? Is there some kind of file length limit going on?

I have searched high and low in the preferences but can't find any setting that I may have missed? For what it's worth, the same tracks imported into Reaper 4.78, Tracktion 6, Studio One 3 (demo version) suffer no ill effects!

Thanks.

I am assuming this is a limitation of the track name field. I have hit that right stop before, and it does not wrap, but forget how long it can be (seems about what you are showing).

I can see that being an issue moving files between DAWs for sure. Internal to SONAR there are text fields for notes, but they would not be included with(in) the audio file.

Hi, after some experiments, if you manually enter a track name in the box, you can get approx 130 characters. My file names are around 100. So it seems that Sonar can handle the long names. The issue then, is why does it save and truncate the imported file? Why can't it leave it as it is?

If I drop my files into the Audio folder then drag and drop them to the timeline, they all get the same truncate and rename thing happening!

In the grand scheme of things, I can work around it . . . . . but in a DAW as mature as Sonar, I shouldn't have to. I'm new to Sonar (3 days now!) and this is driving me nuts!

On the bright side, the mix I am working on is sounding great and I love what Sonar can do + ProChannel is fantastic!
