Importing Audio

After importing an audio file I need to match this up to respective beats within a project so that I can line this up with drum loops. I can import the audio no problem and I think this involves audio stretch but I dont seem to be able to get the track to line up with the beats? I's driving me mad. Can anybody help please? Thanks. Phil

What format is the audio file your importing? MP3 adds some blank time in the beginning of the file which can make it a pain to line up.

Thanks, can I synchronise a whole song to a project with this? I have never used this facility before. Could you advise really novice instruction?
