Importing the tempo map

When I import a type 1 MIDI file into my blank project, I need the associated tempo map to be used also.

So I import the MIDI file, there are 7 tracks.

select all,

copy (with "events in tracks, import tempo changes, and meter etc" are all checked in the Copy dialog box.)

delete all 7 tracks so that my project is empty again

paste special (with " import tempo changes, and meter etc" are all checked)

Tempo remains at 120

Please advise what I am missing with this process.

Thank you

Sorry for the lame question... but have you tried hitting play or opening the tempo map window (Shift-Alt-5) to see the changes in the graph display or sidebar?

I'm asking coz sometimes I do the silliest of mistakes like pasting tracks + tempo changes, and seeing 120bpm in the control bar I would think it's not working - so I'm just preempting...

Other than that I can't be of much help because for me it works not only on import, but even copy/pasting between projects.
