In need of help sonar 8.5 no sound
I know what your thinking I already tried checking drivers, asio, and wmd. I've tried master bus. I have had this for one year sonar 8.5, brand new windows 7, reformatted, m-audio fast track pro. When i first got set up i was able to record though very staticy adjusted the buffer setting didn't help. I gave up until i got reformatted with windows 7 now no sound on record and none on playback. any suggestions?

Did you get all the updates for SONAR 8.5? Did the Wave Profiler run when you first loaded SONAR? What are the settings in SONAR Options>Audio for record and playback timing masters? What does the Drivers page read? Are you setting each track's inputs to whatever you have your mic or instrument plugged into? Ideally, that would be the same as the recording timing master. Is each track's output set to whatever your speakers are connected to? That would be the playback timing master, or to a bus that has it's output set to the playback timing master. Are you arming the audio track before recording? Are you trying to record audio in a MIDI track? I've done that. Can you post a screen shot of your Options>Audio settings? By the way, this is the SONAR Home Studio forum. The SONAR forum is upstairs a ways.

after you reformatted and reinstalled windows, did you download and reinstall the latest fast track drivers? then you have to let the wave profiler run in WDM driver mode after installing the drivers.

I would use ASIO instead of WDM if I were you. Also, the following should be checked: Share Drivers with Other Programs Use MultiProcessing Engine Use MMCSS Play effects tails after stopping. Enable Read Caching Enable Write Caching

the odd thing is that it says "USB AUDIO 1 in/1 out" the fast track should have 2 inputs and 2 outputs, not 1. try ASIO driver mode and see what happens and let us know.

Enable Read Caching Enable Write Caching the above made no diference other than when i try to record now my track doesnt turn red i have switched to asio it seems like it wont accept it. I have ran the wave profiler after changes. asio shows no main bus, input, output, playback timing master, etc. hardware setup m-audio is usb. 2 inputs mic or line. i have been using yamaha headphones plugged into the m-audio jack. I also have a pa but thats useless until I get this other stuff down. I also use monster cables only so that should be out of the question.

you can't run the wave profiler under ASIO mode. something's not adding up right. go to OPTIONS>AUDIO and go to the DRIVERS tab and list everything that's there here in the forum. list all inputs and outputs and tell us if they're checked or not. then go to OPTIONS>AUDIO>GENERAL and tell us what is listed for the PLAYBACK and RECORDING TIMING MASTER and tell us what other options are listed in the pull down menus. or if you prefer, just make screen shots of those tabs and post them here in the forum. if you don't know how to post screen shots, here are the instructions: http://forum.cakewalk.com/tm.aspx?m=1592276 FYI - just because you have "Monster" cables does not mean they will never fail. personally I"m not a big fan of monster anyway, but that's a different story.

yes, #5 has a link - and it's OK. I was actually referring to posting it in the thread, but a link will do. however I was also talking about screenshots of ASIO. your screenshots that you posted for WDM have something terribly wrong. they show a USB device with 1 input and 1 output and the streaming bits is 3 bytes! what other choices do you have there? and for PLAYBACK and RECORDING - what other choices do you have there?
