Really enjoyed the variety in this, James. Great piece. Is this what modern instrumental prog-rock is? Cheers, Terry.

CreatingNoise James, this is one cool piece of music. I love the contrast of the pristine piano with the electronic sounding percussion at the beginning and how it keeps coming back throughout. That heavy guitar interlude is really cool. The mix sounds great on my system. That piano riff is gonna haunt my brain for a few days, very simple but catchy. Great way to set a mood. Nice work! Hey, thanks Tony, that's kind of you. That little piano riff..I remember sitting down, banging that out and thinking 'yeah, I'll write a tune around that' I like it when that happens. Still got the new DT CD in the van...

foxwolfen I like the tension in the beginning. The piano has a bit of an Eric Satie vibe at times. The change up at 1:38 or so was startling and dissonant. I suspect it was intentional, but the blend of the two styles later on does not transit quite so distinctly and is less dissonant. I am not suggesting you change it. Just describing the experience. This was really cool. I like it a lot. Very evocative. Thanks Shad. Yes, I did want a 'sit-up' moment when the toms hit at mid-point. If it seems to blend better later on, I'm happy with that too.

this project is really taking me places James. very nice to hear you doing something outside the usual SMB/AS aesthetic. mix wise it is your usual great job. i would maybe HPF the bass drum a little just to get rid of the uber-bassiness. The Weirdstone of Brinsingamen, eh? worth a read?

The Weirdstone of Brinsingamen, eh? worth a read? Ah, Mark, always makes me smile when you drop in for a listen. Wish you were around a bit more, and posting your own music. The bass drum is actually a 'bombo' and I did HPF it a little, maybe I'll push that a little more. 'Weirdstone...' is a 50 year old fantasy novel, for kids, but it's stuck with me ever since my sister read it to me when I was about 7. It has roots in a lot of different mythologies, including the Arthurian legend, and what makes it for me is that it's set in a real place (various towns and villages around Alderley Edge in Cheshire) Give it go.

well i don't get too much time to record stuff now though i do the odd thing, don't post here though I will if i become more of a regular. i will try that book, some of the best fantasy books are written for kids. if you like that kinda fantasy, try Holdsworth's Mythago Cycle, it's for adults and can be a bit hard work, but for fantasy set in reality it's great. and of course, China Mieville's stuff is awesome...The City and eht ytic and Un Lun Dun are amazing examples of reality-based fantasy!

Wonderful track James. As usual from you the mix is superb and your insrumentataion is excellent. My fave part by far is the piano section after the ambient intro. Thats really atmospheric in a great way and very moving musically. Wonderful guitar playing and tone. Top stuff.
