In the market for a new Reverb: Valhalla or Waves Gold Bundle (or both)!?!?!?
Hiya I haven't really got a "go to" reverb I never really liked BREVERB so I was looking around for Black Friday deals... I was thinking Valhalla Vintage Verb and Room (which stay at a consistently good price - no deals) But then the Waves Gold Bundle went on sale! This contains (among other goodies) the IR-L Convolution Reverb, Renaissance Reverb and the TrueVerb What do y'all think - anyone have any experience of these they can share to help my decision?

I used to use the Waves verbs quite a bit, but once I picked up VRoom and VVV, I use those all the time. The Gold bundle is good if you need the plugs in it ...and a convolution verb, but for bread & butter verbs, I end up using the Valhalla ones.

Val is good. One day too late as it was $35 on Kvr but it does come up every month and goes quickly.

I needed some of the other WAVES tools so I pulled the trigger to get the offer, but plan to get the VALHALLA plugins soon I didn't think VALHALLA did offers so that is interesting - how do I get in on the KVR offers? Is there a special signup?

Valhalla does not discount but people do sell used plug-ins at KVR. FWIW, Valahalla installation is much easier than your recent Waves experience.

No, just secondhand in the market place. There's been a few this month but they are gone quick.

Ah, I see
In that case I think I would prefer to support the guy making the Valhalla stuff - especially if the install is smooth!!!!!

Not to mention that parts of the profits goes to charity. But the Waves stuff is great. Trueverb offers an interesting twist on reverb.

I like both the Valhalla reverbs and the Waves ones. I bought the Gold bundle on sale a couple of years ago (or was it Platinum) and I have had so much use out of those plugins its unreal. It's worth reading all the manuals because you get so much more out of them. There are a lot of plugins in the bundle which I dismissed for ages because I didn't know how to use them properly, but after reading the manuals recently I use them a lot.
The convolution reverb it comes with is the "lite" version - it's still great but lacks some of the controls of the full version. TrueVerb is great. There's been times when I couldn't get the sound I was after with Valhalla and TrueVerb has been exactly what I was looking for.

The Waves deal seems like a really good deal. If I had the dosh and wasn't on XP, I'd be all over it!
Certainly, worth a look if you could use quite a few of the plugs.

If you're going to spend a couple hundred bucks, primarily for reverb, I would suggest that you should consider Aether as well. Yes, it costs more than the two Valhalla units combined, and I have never used either VRoom or VVV. But Aether would be my desert island choice (you know - pick one and only one) for an algo reverb. Don't know if there are good seasonal prices, however, but I'd bet if you had it, you'd never suffer from a grass-is-greener sense of deprivation.

Valhalla or Waves...inexpensive, easy installation versus, um, a sharp stick in the eye? Tough choice, I know.

Nice reverb, dmbaer.
Jim recommends PhoenixVerb, which is $199.

MY pal McQ always suggests Phoenix. I got the demo. I admit that I'm kind of green when it comes to the nuances of reverbs but I seem to fall back to EMT140, Valhalla, & Lexi LXP. Lately I've demoed Rematrix. It's pretty nice. At sale prices it's in the Phoenix price range.

++Valhalla. I've never used VRoom, anyone have any reasons they would use that instead of VV? Any thoughts on Shimmer? I have VV and the great UberMod. I don't generally use a lot of reverb but really like the VV sound. I use UberMod all the time.

Room certainly has a lot more presets than VintageVerb. I hear Room as more modern sounding. I tend to reach for it on synths more than VintageVerb, which I instinctively reach for when it comes to vocals, guitars, drums etc.
