Inconsistant results setting up for record
This [basic] process is a frequent problem for me. I know I'm doing something wrong, but can't identify it. From one audio recording to the next, having successfully recorded a previous track, and with nothing changed except going to the next track to record (even in the same project), I can't get Sonar to record. With the trac armed, when I test the mic, I can see the meter move on the Omega, but not in the Track View. I think it might be that I don't have my settings right in track view for In and Out. I think I'm doing everything as before, but maybe not. I know I need to understand better what I'm looking at in my track view choices for In and Out.
1) Using a Lexicon Omega sound card, I want to record mono, so (having chosen the mono icon in Track View of Sonar) when I open "I" I choose Left Omega ASIO in 1. (By the way, why do am I given a choice between Left Omega ASIO in 1, and Right Omega ASIO in 1 (and not 2 - since there are 2 mic inputs in the Omega)? The next choice is Left and Right in 3 (what happened to 2 - the 2nd mic?). And why do I have Left and Right choices while working in mono? Might this "Left and Right" actually be what Omega calls mics 1 and 2? Confusing (to me).
2) Then in "O", should I chose Master or Omega ASIO out Left? I've tried all combinations of these in both I and O, but I'm trying to narrow the problem down by trying to understand better what these choices are, and what I'm looking at.
3) Is there anything I might be doing or not doing that should be obvious (but isn't to me)? There must be, but I can't see where I'm doing anything differently. What might I be missing or doing wrong?
