Input echo with new Saffire Pro and SaffireMixsControl
Hello, I'm getting a very slight delay in the phones while trying to record a vocal track with a new interface box, a Saffire Pro 14. My setup: X2 Pro, Focusrite Sapphire Pro 14 with SaffireMixControl, and Win 7x64. Sonar reports latency (in Preferences/Auido/Driver Settings) at 9.5ms, 458 samples RT. Sonar on-line help says to mute the line-in of the Windows mixer. I don't have a Windows mixer, I've got SaffireMixControl, so I've muted that. Still have echo. I browsed the Focusrite support and knowledge base articles, not much help there either. Can anyone advise what I'm not doing correctly? Thank you, Todd

I think I figured it out. In SaffireMixControl, I routed the headphones to Mix 1 & Mix 2, and in Sonar turned off Input Echo and muted the recorded track. Seems backwards, but it works!

Seems like about every year I have a crisis and have to relearn the Saffire Mix Control... i've had other audio interfaces and they aren't any simpler... just takes a couple of hours to figure it out tho.

Thanks Maarkr, yes, I'm still pretty new to SMC. Definitely don't have it figured out yet!

The router section it an important part of the SMC. Be sure to reference the Saffire user manual as you learn all of its functionality. There are a lot of key points that are simple one-line statements in there. Another helpful topic in that guide are "Monitoring with or without FX", and "Recording with or without FX"

Wow, Alex, that is better than the user guide! He does a very nice walk through of exactly what the OP was asking. Another tip I thought of after I posted earlier. When you get mixing/routing configurations to your liking, also be sure to "File->Save As" so you have those for later reference. You can also "Save to Hardware" to the interface itself has that preset as your new "default" even if you take the interface to a friend's house or such.
