Install Sonar 6 PE and Uninstall Sonar 3 PE

Hey gang, I've been on this site for a couple days doing searches and reading the advice, please be kind if I've missed this somewhere else.

I am taking delivery of Sonar 6 PE today and currently am using Sonar 3 PE.
I would appreciate if you could provide any information on how to do the uninstall/reinstall.
I'm doing a full install, not an upgrade.

For instance, should I completely uninstall version 3 before trying to install 6, or should I leave 3 installed while I install 6?

I have all my projects backed up to an external USB drive, so I'm not worried about losing the projects.

Are there things I need to do other than just remove version 3 using the 'remove programs' menu?

Any help would be appreciated.

thanks!!!

    Hey,

I think that either choice is fine, although to keep things clean I would uninstall 3.
When installing 6 just make sure that you tick the boxes that tells 6 to read 3's files etc.

The most important thing to remember with 6 are the updates, install all of the updates before opening the app. This is very important!!!!

    Enjoy !!!

Why do you want to uninstall 3? Many people have multiple versions of Sonar living happily on their DAWs. And there is no "upgrade" from one version to another, it is always the full version that gets installed. The "upgrade" title is for pricing only, and none of your Sonar 3 files will be modified or overwritten when installing 6.

Thanks for the info, I'll definitely go through the patches.
I read somewhere that I need to avoid one of the patches (6.1?).

Should I step through all the patches or will the most recent one cover all the previous ones?

I'm uninstalling v3 because it was purchased by someone else and I don't want to run into any licensing/registration issues.

thanks again, I appreciate the info.

I've installed all the patches and had no problems. Just do like Rodar6 said and install all the patches in order BEFORE Starting Sonar. Just to be clear, Do not open Sonar between patch installs. By the way, I installed the patches as the came out and never had a problem but for those who have, this seems to work.

    Yeah, thanks.
I guess I am lucky, installed all patches before opening app, am happily error free.
All my plugins showed up and haven't gotten an error or issue yet!
