Install X2 32 version and X2 64 is still installed (questions - answered)
I installed Sonar X2 64bit for try, if my 32 plugins work. Work good. I think no need 32 version. But i am curious and i want know, what to do if i want 32bit version too. 1.) If i want install 32 version, where can i add the path for program files? Install where is 64bit installed or make seperate install? 2.) I install Sonar x2 64 first and there are some 64bit plugins installed. If i want use it in 32 bit version sonar, need i install them one more time? 3.) For shared plugins / files can i use the same path folders? I try install but when i cant change the path for 32version i cancel installation. For some reason, it give me that C:\ProgramFiles\Cakewalk PS: sorry for my english

C:\Program Files\Cakewalk is for your 64 bit version C:\Program Files(X86)\Cakewalk is for your 32 bit version You can't use 64 bit plugins in a 32 bit host. You CAN use 32 bit plugs in a 64 bit host but they will be bridged. Most 32 bit plugs work very well in bridged mode - a handful might play up & be unstable. The bridging tool built into Sonar is Bitbridge and works very well. There is a 3rd party tool called JBridge which you have to pay for and some people say it's better

The 32-bit version should default to Program files (x86). Possibly you were mistaken on what you chose, or what the target path was...? To the extent possible, I recommend keeping 64-bit blugins in the the Vstplugins folder under Program Files\Cakewalk.... and 32-bit plugins under Program Files (x86)\Cakewalk\... to aid in keeping track of of things. All other shared folders must (and will automatically) remain separate. Also, the two apps will get different paths in appdata and some different branches in the registry so they remain mostly isolated except to the extent that they can scan each other's vstplugins folders and the Content path will be the same. IIRC, Bitbridge can only bridge a 32-bit plugin to a 64-bit host, but the 3rd party Jbridge can bridge both directions.

Thanks, i decide to uninstall 64bit and install 32 bit. But maybe unnecessarily because Sonar install remember all install setup and in new install 32 bit version give me shared plugins to ProgramFiles(86x) and i cant change it. I was want all content, projects etc.. under one file named Cakewalk. Not mess in folders.

You probably didn't do a full uninstall of your old version. 1) Completely uninstall SONAR from your computer. This is normally done from Start | Programs | Cakewalk. This will not remove any of your project files or audio data. 2) Next you will want to open the Run Command a) In Windows XP this can be done by going to Start | Run b) In Windows Vista and 7 this can be done by holding down the ‘windows’ key and pressing ‘r’
3) At the prompt type regedit and click OK.
***Backup your Registry before making edits - you do this by clicking the File menu, Export Registry File. 4) Now delete the following Registry keys: HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Cakewalk Music Software\SONAR Producer\X2 HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Cakewalk Music Software\SONAR Producer\X2
*Please note that this will remove any effects presets and key bindings you may have made in Cakewalk. You can back these up separately if you like, using Options|Key Bindings, Tools|SONAR Plug-in Manager, and Options|Colors. Hit F1 in these views for detailed instructions on how to do this.
5) Open the 'Run' command again. 6) Copy and paste the following into the prompt: %appdata%\Cakewalk
7) This will open your Cakewalk Application Data folder, right-click on the SONAR folder and choose rename.
8) Rename this folder SONAR X2 Backup.
9) Open the 'Run' command again and type msconfig Click OK and then click on the Startup tab at the upper right of the window that opens.
10) Uncheck all items listed, click OK, then restart your computer. You can always recheck those items again at a later time.
11) Then reinstall SONAR. Make sure to have any virus scanners disabled on installation. It is not required or recommended to turn off any windows services.

Thank you very much Bristol_Jonesey. I dont understand point 10). For what reason to uncheck all item listed? Virus scenners are for example Avast? I have avast and dont know if there is virus scenner, but i make installation with avast and everything was ok in installation 64bit and 32bit. Programs run ok.

In practice you don't really need to do that step. I've included it just for sake of completeness

X2 gives me a message when loading a project saying I'm missing 32-bit UAD plugs. I'm running a 64-bit Win7 system. I rescanned the plugin folder and those .dlls are in that directory. Anyone idea's?
